On his day he's imperious. Pompey at home for example, he's bloody brilliant. Same goes for a really good proportion of the season. But he fits perfectly with our flat track bully status. When the going gets tough, he's all over the show and simply cannot handle a high press. Humphries/the Pompey chap away/Murphy for Oxford etc being prime examples. He just hasn't got the speed of thought or turn of pace to deal with some fuck either pressing him or running at him with the ball. Then we have everyone's biggest gripe, which obviously alot is owing to our style of play and probable direction from the manager.... Walking about with the ball. It's become a beacon of our fundamental problem. Slow paced, no intensity and it just looks fucking shit and makes folk restless. It invites pressure, it then makes us make mistakes and it's absolute food and drink for a team with bags of energy. Every single move, every single attack, every single bit of play is dictated by Santos. He's the heartbeat, but when that heartbeat is slow, ponderous and not at it, we are fucked. And again it just looks shit no matter how many phases of play we are trying to dictate. I've just no idea why instead of walking about or worse standing about when Sheehan is marked out of the game and there's fuck all on out wide he can't just drive forward with the ball. Fuckin run with it lad and see what happens. Probably sounds ever so simple but just don't bloody stand there.

No 'hate' from me, just disappointment that, whatever the state of play, he slows things down. We can have 75% of possession but it means feck all if it's all along the back. Other teams have worked him out & I fear that will be more pronounced this coming season. I think we play better when he's unavailable. I think we play better when he's unavailable. Surely if we can see it so must Evatt, we can’t all be wrong? On his day he’s the best we’ve got but it’s down to IE to challenge him not to resort to walking football and if he is pull him off. It’s obviously a decision Rico himself has made and to be fair if there’s nothing on then he’s shown in the past he’s capable of taking the ball forward himself which makes it all the more frustrating. The criticism he gets seems unfair but he does bring it on himself.

We are very easy to play against as we are so rigid in our ways. when it works and we play lesser opposition its great but even now these teams are clicking what they need to do. Possession is horrible when you do nothing with it.

You have certainly changed your tune.........Baxter and Santos cannot play a full league season and the cup games Evatt has identified that and quickly brought in Southwood and Forino as clones of said two. He is not changing nothing as shown in the first two friendlies. Five at the back with Baxter playing out to Santos It is what it is until Evatt goes You are right other teams worked him out as the season wore on As for transfers i think this Armstrong will come in Winger playing as a lwb and we will wait for a couple of loans which are a gamble Mcatee and Dembele...........Dont make me laugh

Even though we didn't achieve our target last season, we finished third and came within 90 mins of promotion. Statistically, we had a strong squad. We've lost only one regular starter (Maghoma). He's a big loss but is replaceable. Forino is a big addition, Johnstone is back, Collins has a full pre season with the team, Thomasson is a year older (smarter). The squad we have right now will comfortably finish top 3 or 4; the 4 or 5 additions yet to come will see us where we all want to be. Opinions of course, but it's fairly clear what's happening (should be if people are able to read between the lines). One or two Premier League loans incoming (by end August) and one is an LWB 3 new players incoming, one of whom is currently involved in Europe, but will leave. McAtee and Dembele have various offers. Their names have been dropped to create some urgency, but also to let other clubs know we have alternative targets. One or two will leave. I've said before, there'll be no big statements from Evatt or the club this season, and there'll be no massive change of style. The end result will be very different to last season! Without a change in style of play and a change in our inability to win games when the going gets tough means we will not finish any different. I hope you are right but when we are mid October and Santos is stood on the ball ready to play one of his iconic floaty passes i think its another season over. Maybe that's why he's brought in the new lads, and is hoping for more? To improve whether we play the same way, or via a different approach. A lot of doom and gloom left over from last season, understandably, but sooner or later that has to be put to bed.

Duck Egg
It was Wembley for me. You could see within 5 minutes that things didn't look right, yet we persisted playing the same way for the next 85, as the game and promotion just slipped away. Slowing the game down, keeping possession certainly has its place in today's game but you've got to be able to suddenly up the tempo and counter attack quickly when the opening presents itself. We can't seem to do this and is where Pep style tactics plus league 1 players doesn't work.
Dr. Feelgood
This Armstrong guy. He's a winger. How does a winger fit into any of Evatt's plans ? Wingers join us & are benched or told to convert to wing-backs. Love it if that changes, but there's precious little sign of it.
