FFS. This isn't Behind The Stands. Most folk come on here to read bullshit rumours and conjecture, with the odd bit of accurate stuff thrown in. It's boring as fuck reading your personal squabbles.

  • Sure it's that Mandela effect in full flow here that we all seem to be OK with this. It's a fucking travesty and complete shitshow. He's our most prolific striker by a country mile, has been

We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Agreed, L1 player, no more. Good luck to him though if it happens

Can’t see it Pompey are trying to get rid of players as they have too many!

Have they seen him play???

Or has someone said " go and get me a headless chicken that would need 1000 chances to hit a bulls arse with a banjo".

His instinct is great, when he doesn't have time to think, he'll score, when he's got time, it becomes less likely.

We’d certainly miss him if he did go, he adds a different element n attack to all the others. My problem with him is that he’s a loner and not strike partner material and doesn’t really link in with any of our other forwards. I’d be reluctant to see him go though. I may get pelters for it but I think we’re missing Bod?

I would have fckg loved to have been a pro footballer. But it must be said that you're on a hiding to nothing.

I agree with some of the criticisms, so this isn't rose-tinted time, but we have Santos & Sheehan in the team of the season, we have a striker with 20 goals two seasons running. We have Tommo quite clearly busting a gut ... & it goes on ... all being told they're shit, or 'if they go we won't miss 'em'.

Pitifully really, & I'm including myself in that.

Aye

But when it really matters, they disappear, and can't offer an explanation as to why

All strikers (indeed players) have penalties included. Always have. Ridiculous to suggest they shouldn't be considered.

Apart from last season he's scored at a good rate. I didn't mention league only, but if you take that as your mark, then also consider other players' goalscoring rates.

Seems that you are looking for something to beat him with.

He scored 18 last season. Way better than anyone else. That included 16 in 36 league games. 10 fewer than a full season. Also 2 in four cup games.

Approximately 1 in 2. Plenty good enough, and better than others. Collins got 9 in 22, which is also good, but no better than Charles.

Really not sure what you want from them.

Some fair comments (but I'm definitely not looking for a stick to beat anyone with, just a balanced view).

I'll accept your 16 league goals, I just went off Wiki that says 14 in 33 games (still a good rate of course).

On pens, I respect your different opinion, but mine is that if Charles was out for the season and we got 5 pens I'd expect the others to step up and score maybe 4 which is about what DC does, he misses occasionally as most players would.  So unless we're talking about an Ivan Toney type of success rate, it makes little difference to the team who gets the responsibility, and that's not to underestimate the nerve and skill required.  Collins/Morley have scored every pen they've taken for us, so far.

Can't believe so many are anti Dion. Would be worried if he left. Not convinced that Vic is more prolific in front of goal so unless a championship type goalscorer is incoming (and which team wants to lose one of those players with the window about to shut) then I really hope he stays.

That's your words.  I'm definitely not anti Dion (uncle Dion?) any more than your comment on Vic is anti-Vic?  Just fair and balanced comment discussing pro's and con's of any of our current or ex players.

How can you miss someone who hardly ever played? And when he did play, he hardly ever scored.

I can feel someone’s Squeegy getting a good throttle reading this😂

0 touches in 30 minutes of football at Wigan away.

Open net misses at Derby, Barnsley amongst others.

Missing Bod my hairy arse.

He'd struggle even worse in this mad 5-1-1-2-1  formation.

Certainly not anti DC, and would love him to hit the form he had from August - January, but so far Victor has seemed to be more of a threat for us, imo.

I was thinking before the game that at Charlton with that lovely wide pitch that suites our natural game and we always play well there. I didn't post as I also thought that we are trying a different system and we can't have it all ways. The personnel in midfield is too light in numbers or does not either have the right balance or type of player, this is not a criticism of any player's skill sets. It is just obvious.

I fell sorry for Santos, still captain, issues with form and fitness, teams know now to press high and just wait for the error. Santos seems to be pivotal in the way we play and dropping him is a massive call and could have a more detrimental effect. But good managers/teams find a way to change and win games. It isn't any easy one that is for sure but a starting point could be a new captain, there are some good options!

Santos was great against Wrexham. Ate everything up and bossed yon lad up front.

Got done for pace once and gave a free kick away and it's all folk remember.

Like has been said, if you leave to defend, there's not better in this division.

Asking him to dictate a whole game and spray balls about likes he's at man city is a different kettle of fish all together.

Hate the way he stands there shouting at toal and every other fucker when he's fucked up mind.

Well I did say I’d get pelters! 😀

I don't think we'd miss any individual striker if they moved on. If one player was missing loads of good chances every week there would be a case, but we aren't creating 20 proper chances every game - it's 2 or 3 and they aren't always easy. It's how we are playing as a team that's the problem.

They maybe want to sign him after is monumental miss against them at Fratton Park!

With no Dan , Williams or Iredale in the squad tonight could any of them be off before the window closes?

I doubt Williams will be.

The other two are possibles.

There was no Vic either.
