Another striker, just what we need 😐

He's a better finisher than Vic who may well be on his way to Turkey.

Could turn out to be astute business if true.

Freddie Ladapo is a done deal according to the Twitter nerds.

Would be an upgrade on Vic , an actual target man rather than someone who should be but who is unable to trap a bag of cement.

Well the pick of the bunch for me would be Matheson yet despite JDC being so poor the lads never even been given a chance. He may be young but he’s more experienced than any of the others and has looked decent in the few opportunities he has had and in pre season Conway looked every bit as good if not better than Shabby. Sometimes you just have to give these lads a chance but Evatt seems really reluctant to take one.

The lad is watched every day in training (where he is up against his professional peers) by multiple coaches (not just Evatt). He plays countless B Team games too.

It really isn't the case that you 'just have to give these lads a chance'. The reality is that he is not yet up to it. That may not fit the narrative of those who want to see players coming through, but it's the truth.

Cooper left Chesterfield 4 years before Evatt was manager there.

They played together, though.

'The club reached the 2014 Football League Trophy Final and played at Wembley Stadium, but ultimately lost 3–1 to Peterborough United in front of more than 35,000 fans.[17] In the league, Cooper formed a formidable partnership with Ian Evatt as the team won the division and were promoted to League One.'

As much as that is largely true, there have been, and still will be cases of youngsters not making the grade at a given club, then doing just that elsewhere.

None of us really know what Matheson's position is, but, if neither he, nor anyone else is genuine capable of making the step up, then questions must be asked about the effectiveness of the set up.

We are a 3rd division club after all, and not necessarily needing top flight quality players.

We would be a lot better off come next May with Cooper in our backline than Ladapo coming in

I did say he was there as manager, but i knew they had worked together at Chesterfield

Matheson's an odd one

I've no reason to doubt the decision not to play him in favour of our other options, but it's difficult to think he's not ready for third tier football now given he was seemingly capable enough of it as a teenager

Given Evatt will be wailing before long about JDC being fatigued it's a baffler that he doesn't see Matheson as fit to have a go against a L2 side who won't be at full strength.

Evatt seems to have taken the 'strongest side possible, win and play into form' attitude tonight, with zero risk of anything going tits up. Tough on lads like him though, it's what this comp is for, at least in it's early stages

TNS  Striker

Brad Young

ÂŁ190k off to Sadui

21yr old, former Villa & WBA trainee. Sored 22 in 25 for this lot so knows where the goal is.

Going to Saudi at 21 sounds odd, but maybe he'll earn vastly more than here & could be a good stepping stone.

Almost died after being stabbed 3 times in a park in Solihull.

Don’t they get like £130k a year or something. Tax free. Be much more than he gets at TNS

Isn't it the 13th when the Turkish transfer window shuts? Maybe things will liven up on the this thread as that deadline approaches?

Although we may be announcing the signing of an unemployed person sooner than that if they are going to be integrated into the squad before the international break is over i.e. ready to be on the bench for the Huddersfield game.

Some say 13th, others 18th September
