Visions of him scoring against us already....

At the risk of drawing Gonzo out I thought he was a quality player for us. Unlucky with a couple of injuries and then wasn't played enough in the first half of last season when he was fit.

Good player, good touch, seems a great fella. Made of crisps unfortunately and that doesn't tend to improve in your thirties.

The most important ability is availability.

Wish him all the best with Parky bar against us.

JDB signs short-term deal at Hollywood FC, his contract will have expired before he's fit enough to play Parkyball.

And if fit, who does he dislodge? Mullin? Palmer? Can't see it myself.

I don't like Parkyball but he's no mug, he'll have a reason for this signing. If I had to guess Bod may come on to use his experience to protect a lead. The documentary tends to show Palmer as a battering ram and Mullin as an instinctive finisher maybe Bod has a different skill set and is better than both for retention of possession and game management.

46 appearances (36 in League One) last season. 🤷‍♂️

1400 minutes in League 1, so approx 16 games worth.

The point is: he was available for virtually every game, contrary to the perception that he was always injured. The fact that Evatt chose to put him on the bench, thereby limiting his minutes, is irrelevant to this point.

The point you make about fitness is fair and will likely ultimately likely mean he doesn’t play too much.

Your second point you make though, Traf - come on, did you not see Palmer’s performance against us earlier this season? Definition of conference level cart horse, if Bod is actually fit then Palmer isn’t even close to him (can’t comment on Mullin).

This is simply not true

He was mismanaged last season for sure. Not rotated in enough the first half of the season and then expected to play every game once Vic and Charles were injured in the second half of the season, leading to him eventually getting injured v Pompey.

A bit of rotation to protect players from injury should be obvious. Vic was playing Saturday/Tuesday for about a month solid before his injury in January last season

You just know that's happening :D 🤦‍♂️

Said it before, he seems a great lad, got a great touch and played some good stuff for us. I just never got the big hype around him though. He was another who got better the more he didn't play.

When the going got tough I felt he came up short and couldn't handle a physical battle. Missed more than he scored too.

Just because you don't quite get a player as much as others it doesn't mean you hate them.

Which bit is simply  not true ? the fact he  was available  or the perception he was always injured ?

The fact he was available virtually every match

Unless we're extending the definition of "available" to mean available to play a brief cameo while his minutes were managed on return from injury for a large period at the start of the season, and overlook the fact he was unavailable for pivotal end of season fixtures and the play-offs after picking up another injury

I like him as a player and a person, and I wouldn't have objected if he signed on again if the terms were right, but it's misleading to suggest he wasn't hampered by injuries during his spell here

He's going to score a last minute winner against us and lift up his shirt to reveal a t-shirt with a message on it that says "Fuck you Gonzo".

I don't think anyone is really claiming the players that have left were better than the current ones, both Kachunga and Böðvarsson are 32 so aren't going to attract big money even if they play blinders. Which we'll not forget is a big part of the clubs businenss plan, no matter how poorly it's been doing on that front.

To be fair to Böðvarsson and Kachunga they were both regular Championship players, with Kachunga being semi regular in the Premier League for 2 years, they've both aged, i think they were 29 when we signed them, with Kachunga having lost that yard of pace which made him a higher level player. They were handled poorly by IE and never really fit into his mad 532 formation. This is especially true for Sadlier (an average League 1 winger) who never really got the chance to play the 433/451 formation he was signed into.

The squad looked stronger bar Paris at the start of the season, in particular with our 4 forwards

It hasn't performed to it's best consistently.

And we've had injuries

But bar Paris we miss no one who's moved on and none of them would make us better than we are right now
