The squad looked stronger bar Paris at the start of the season, in particular with our 4 forwards

It hasn't performed to it's best consistently.

And we've had injuries

But bar Paris we miss no one who's moved on and none of them would make us better than we are right now

I'd agree with that, the problem isn't the squad, the issue is the way we play, coupled with the formation. I think it gets the worst out of a decent set of players.

I think we switched IE with someone, get in a pacy winger to sit with Dion and Collins, and a proper ball winner in the middle, doesn't have to be a hard man type. For Birmingham, Iwata harasses players and steals the ball back, plays a simple balls out to their creative players typically Paik who provides a close outlet, who then pumps the ball forward to bring in the attackers. It's easy we make it so hard with the way we play, it doesn't need to be this way.

Farrelli was.

No he wasn’t. Evatt can’t get the best out of players at his disposal including ones I listed and continually wastes good players like Dapo and Morley

What about the ones he doesn't waste?

Spot on. Evatt complicates things when there is no discernible benefit. We are not Man City and he is not pep

Great for them but it is the team that suffers and this is most apparent in big games when we hardly ever excel

That is his job, please keep up.

bad = Evatt

good = not Evatt.

Not sure what you do not understand

Your ideas are away with the fairies

Aye Zog is the worst. He’s top of the tree for actually believing he knows more about the game than professional coaches.

The stuck in the mud, colours to the mast crew are frustrating, but at least some of those enjoyed the win yesterday.

I genuinely think the likes of - zog, the guy who brought his banner, those who leave on 85 mins shaking their heads, balling and chunnering - didn’t want us to win yesterday.

It’s one thing coming on here giving your opinion as a fan and debating whether you think Vic or Evatt or whoever is shit or not, but it’s the tactical geniuses and those that won’t accept they are wrong and don’t enjoy a Bolton win, that have me shaking my head the most.

Yep. It deffo upset a few that result yesterday.

I was ad dismayed as anyone seeing us go to the 3 up front thing again. But it worked. We didn't get overrun in midfield and our defence was imperious.

Looks like he's changing systems to suit oppositions. Failed on Tuesday, worked yesterday. It happens.

Better than being pig headed and stubborn right?

Most who think they know better tend to want a hard man midfielder and a creative one, two wingers and a big guy and a quick guy up front.

What they really want is a Time Machine back to 1990’s Burnden (which we’d all love) but football has moved on.

I imagine they sit at home eating chicken in a basket watching Blind Date whilst they offer their opinions

Absolutely pal.

That’s the best that 3 forward line has looked this season.

And like you, that nicely surprised me, I wasn’t convinced about it at all pre-game.

I love the fact I was wrong and that I have to give Evatt some credit. Surely people can see that he tactically tweaked how it worked yesterday and got use out of Collins and McAtee (the big money signings that some criticise him for) in wider positions. That was a clever tactical adaptation, but there’s no way some are going to credit him with altering something positively.

Ignoring the tippy tappy, and having a team more reminiscent of the past isn’t doing Spain any harm?

The 3 upfront only happens if it’s underpinned in midfield by matete, fantastic business if we could get him signed permanently.

Be interesting to see what happens when GT and Dempsey are back

Would be happy to go to Stockport with 3 up top and matete/Sheehan in the middle

Also happy to go with 3 in midfield away, and 2 at home, opposition dependent

Is he better than Maghoma?

We don't have to be concerned about who makes way when everyone's fit/available, its a mythical target always strived far and never quite realised 😀

Can see Paris coming here in Jan

If this happens, he could be the difference for us. I was bitterly disappointed that we didn't bring him back in even if it was only on load. It's a shame that he's rotting in Brentford's reserves not even making the bench. So calm and controlled in possession like sheehan but more athletic allowing him to get up and down the pitch. A midfield three of sheehan, maghoma and matete on recent form rotating with captain legohead and we'd be onto something.

As far as the other comments go, i must admit i've been an avid Evatt out poster. The jury is still firmly out for me but i've seen signs of improvement and i just hope he can learn from his previous mistakes. The players seem with him though which is certainly a good sign. The celebrations at the end of the Peterborough game prove that. Even Rico piled in.

I'm not sure the formation played against either Peterborough or Stevenage is all to dissimilar to that of the earlier games however it seems to have worked against this opposition. What's interesting is i'm not sure we'd have lined up that way if george or kyle were fit.

I think as other posters have said, the next three league games really should show us whether we have turned a corner or whether the flat track bully tag still remains.

He's gonna be fucked when they all start speaking Welsh in the dressing room.

This is what's hard to understand with all the anti English rhetoric.  Only 3 of their squad qualify to play for Wales, 23 qualify to play for England. Thick fookin goons.

A couple of Hollywood A listers rock up, pat them on the head, film them singing in a pub and they are suddenly big time.  Then have the cheek, after paying Championship wages in L2, to make out they are some kind of plucky underdogs.

Bod seems a sound guy but his highlight reel for his last 12 months with us is limited to him playing wally with some kid, Netflix will be all over it.

Its only really 2 games that are "tough", the 3rd one is Cambridge (not underestimating them but not in the category you refer to).  And we haven't played Stockport in the league for decades, its not like Blackpool & Wigan away in terms of having a terrible record there.  Yes its a tough game - a point would be OK - but there are tougher tests to come on paper.

Blackpool at home is a big game, but we did beat them last year, in one of our better pre-Xmas home performances.  Its not a game I feel paranoid about personally, I think we'll be better than them and if we win it won't go down as an improvement on last season.

If he is then i must've missed that. I've been looking at their match day line ups and noticed i hadn't seen him starting on listed on the bench.

Just taken a look and he played in an U21 game and was on the bench on Tuesday as an unused sub in the cup against sheff wed.

So, you’re proposing to drop Dempsey who, prior to his injury, was our standout performer in a poor start to the season.

Dempsey played as a 10. In the last two games, McAtee moved to this role and has done ok but not, IMHO, been quite as effective as Dempsey.

With Lolos and CMG also on the books, it’s clear we intend to play with a 10, in front of two central midfielders. That is, two from Sheehan, Thomason and Matete.

Matete has replaced Maghoma in the squad. Whether he’s as good or not, is too early to say. For me, he started slow but now seems to be finding his role in the team. Funnily enough, I recall Maghoma also starting slow, before adapting to our setup.
