What do you do if you cant train on the grass cos of injury ? Spend 6 hours a day in the gym/pool . He should be looking stronger .

What do you think we can afford then, not just for Kenny but for a quality signing? If Nob End can fork out £6m could we? Obviously no fee is paid up front so paying it off in chunks surely wouldn’t be beyond us would it? I can’t believe we’re as badly off as it’s portrayed and unless we buy some serious players we’ve no right to believe we’ll compete at this level.

Yes of course I understand that but we have to compete with clubs like Preston and we always knew promotion would mean spending so what do you think would be our limit given we can extend payments over several years? The £700k we spent on Luca won’t bring a proven striker in so how much do you think we can afford is what I’m asking?

It's not a matter of what we can afford per se, but what we are prepared to pay for any given player.

There was plenty of talk over a possible bid of £1m for Kenny previously.

We're certainly not going to go much higher if that was true.

If Preston believe its right to pay £6m for their man, so be it.

No way would we pay anything like that for Kenny, even if we could afford to.

Complete guesswork but I'd be surprised if we spend more than £4m in total on transfers this summer. We don't have a super rich owner so can't just keep losing money

so rules were changed

but aye, it's still just a financial penalty

aye, though the funny thing is, they only went over the spending/deficit threshold when they got promoted due to contracted promotion bonuses being paid

It's more that we've got to spread it over several players, it will improve as we become established in the division and less reliant on loan players.

QPR did it a few years ago

Spent way beyond their means to get promoted but whilst they are in the prem, the EFL couldn't touch them

Then they got relegated and the EFL hammered them but I think they re-negotiated the fine

Yes of course and the last thing we want to do is land ourselves with massive debts again but I was just wondering where our limit might be on signing strikers capable of threatening at the next level up. By all accounts Hull were looking for £2m for Burstow and we’re presumably looking for better than him? Kenny was touted at £1m last year and I’d assume his decent performances will have increased that so it’ll be interesting to see what signings we make or is it likely to be loans again? If our purse is that stretched that we can’t be competitive then we’ve got a problem.

He's a pro aged 32. He HAS to have some capability. He showed a bit in those play offs but he had some baffling howlers

What do you think our budget is?
