We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

Walsall away that season, he ran the shop. Put himself about quite a bit from what I can remember and didn't shy away from the ball. Said at the time, he's a cracking player.

Get to the home game against them and I'm bigging Oztumer up (no pun intended) to the guy I sit next to. 5 minutes in and he lobs Alnwick from 35 yards.

Free agent, creative midfielder, decent age, won't command a big wage, no risk for me

Agree - he bossed that game at there place - nothing to lose.  Best option for us is to get the best players in division 1 as a lot cheaper.

30 odd goals from midfield in a struggling side in 2 seasons suggests he should be playing at a higher level. Just because he hasnt so far doesnt mean he cant.

Bradley Dack at Rovers is in the same bracket

Im far more excited at the thought of him signing than a mid 30s player with 'good pedigree'

The other argument would be that a player like him has played his entire career in league one or lower for a reason. Were he 21/22 it would be different. He's 27, if he were that good he'd not still be at Walsall. Or at the very least, something has stopped people jumping in.

I will predict that Lowe will make a far bigger impact here.

Is this Walsall chap any better than karacan by the way?

Tis a good point you make. Better on the ball, though he's certainly more lightweight from what i've seen.

game of opinions isnt it,

at 27 hes at the peak of his ability. i dont think technically he can be questioned so i would guess it would boil down to the age old adage of size and clubs thought it was too big a risk financially

now hes on a free there are a few interested parties...

My only hope is that if we do sign the Turk that we at least play him in his best position centrally, rather than try and squeeze him into the side out wide somewhere as has been the case previously when we've had "footballers" who were on the short side of midgetism (sp?).

Absolutely.

Really need to avoid him ending up out wide and spending the entire match tracking back.

Adam Armstrong syndrome.

Be interesting to see what happens with Armstrong next season, assume he will be back at Blackburn

If he gets a run at centre forward alongside another then I think he will get goals

Let’s wait and see

see also Zach Clough

it'll be easy to dismiss him as shit and not a champsionship player if he's stuck on the wing, out of position and mis-ultilised

as for his age

plenty players get to a similar age still playing at a lower level

Vardy is the obvious one

Ricky Lambert another

Grant Holt etc

am sure there's plenty others too who easily made the move from league one to championship at a similar age

and that's the market we're in, transfers that are a punt

Didn't one or two of Eddie howe's players start with him in the bottom tier?

Getting him would be a more exciting signing than Ireland.

I liked him Shame he couldn’t fit into our way

Agree he got goals in him

aye, players like Francis, Daniels and Cook were signed in the lower league days

there might be a reason why no one higher up signed them, but they've still made their names as PL players

Otzumer might be small in stature but he’s not lightweight yes it’s a gamble but worth taking.

Think we've been missing a player like him. We've needed a good little player, that can dribble and glide past players to bring it forward. We've not really had a proper number 10.

Hopefully he would make the team pass it through the midfield more, rather than over it. But obviously we need to strengthen a lot more areas first.

For me that's what we need to strengthen first.

Two midfielders gone and a need to improve that department anyhow.

We have pretty much zero basis to know if he is good or not.

the twitter outcry / love in is weird.

he may be brilliant. he may be pants. either way if he signs back him.

the only comparison i can see with Messi is his size yet people are wanking themselves silly over him when doubting another new arrival. its fucking mental

We had Clough who people seem to have decided is now shit.

Again keep an open mind but lets not write the history before hes kicked a ball.

Not sure we are beggars this time round. Likes of Lowe and this Turk couldn't have been signed last year, with our wage restrictions. Certainly we wanted Lowe but couldn't match his wages. Oztumer was courted by a few teams and we seem to have won out. We aren't rich or even breaking even but seems the purse strings are more relaxed than they have been for a long time.

Not had once since Mark Davies on one of his 'on his day' performances when he was off the treatment table.

see PP got a briefing off Redknapp about Lowe before he signed.

Fooook me thats a character reference if ever you needed one

One think I like about the Turk is he's scored goals. So that suggests he's about end product. We had enough of talent but little concrete things to show for it in Mark Davies. Our midfield certainly needs goals more than it needs a show pony.

Happy with otzumer as fan 5 says. He seems to bring something different to the table

Is he that different from clough?

Or Armstrong?

Both haven’t fitted into previous systems.

He’s different from what we have left.

Be interesting to know if he is a Parkinson signing or an Anderson signing. (As the story goes)
