We've just won promotion using a gaggle of players nobody else wanted, littered with injury plagued loanees and players that were cast as cart horses, one trick ponies and generally weak as piss.

  • Like when we went up from league 2, we needed tried and tested players from that specific division/level to deal with the task in hand. Doyle and Sarcs etc. We need exactly the same in this divis

Is he that different from clough?

Or Armstrong?

Both haven’t fitted into previous systems.

He’s different from what we have left.

Be interesting to know if he is a Parkinson signing or an Anderson signing. (As the story goes)

Midfield player who scores goals. I have reservations about signing a 27 year old who has never played higher than league one level. But we will see. Certainly seems far more dynamic than Clough or Armstrong.

Armstrong has had two championship seasons one with us one at Barnsley and done little in both. I'm not convinced he's going to do anymore with Blackburn this year either. Case in point about perhaps a player finding his level.

Clough isn't one thing or another and sadly I think he will end up with a lower league career.

I'd be happy with Ireland.

How are his Grans doing?

Had to google the lad. I had no idea who he was.

and i wonder what position he played for both sides...

LA says no to Cotterill

and i wonder what position he played for both sides...

And I wonder perhaps if there is a reason for that? Few sides play two up and he isn't one to lead the line.

The reason few play two up is again for good reason.

On that basis le fondre on the bench all season?

see PP got a briefing off Redknapp about Lowe before he signed.

Fooook me thats a character reference if ever you needed one

Just found out his cousin is my lads school teacher!

Lowe, not Redknapp

see also Zach Clough

it'll be easy to dismiss him as shit and not a champsionship player if he's stuck on the wing, out of position and mis-ultilised

as for his age

plenty players get to a similar age still playing at a lower level

Vardy is the obvious one

Ricky Lambert another

Grant Holt etc

am sure there's plenty others too who easily made the move from league one to championship at a similar age

and that's the market we're in, transfers that are a punt

Agreed. ALF was 25 before he got out of the 4th tier. Billy Bodin absolute quality st Bristol Rovers, wish we'd got him before PNE did. Gallacher did a few years in div 1 for PNE, a complete mystery that one.

Just checked out Gallagher's stats

He's probably spent most of his career out on loan!

For every success there'll be 10s of failures

Yeah it's wierd how much he has been out on loan, which makes it even more annoying that we never offered him the chance (presumably) to play at championship level when Sheff U, Leicester and PNE were in div 1. This will be his 6th consecutive season there, he would walk into any mid field of ours in recent years.

Clough will do ok.

Not bolton related however...

Afobe who recently signed for wolves has now joined stoke on loan for 6months with a view to a 12m permanent deal

The type of signing that's continually building a young, energetic, eager squad at PNE

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44459310

These signings of theirs are usually between £100K and £500K a pop. Many of them will have a re-sale value much higher.

Provided the scouting is good enough (which to date it has been at Deepdale) this is shrewd stuff.

It's a real shame we're not in position to implement a similar model, not yet anyway.

Once wolves get the cheque book out there'll be a few from the promoted side who won't get a minute of game time.

Obviously decided the pre-negotiated option price was less than his true value, so bought him as trading stock.

Think wolves paid 10m for him beginning of June

Could do well for stoke and if they are knocking around top of table come January 12m could be a small price for promotion

Chuffed with the Oz signing. His record and on a free is definitely worth a punt. Best thing of all is him choosing us over other championship sides Inc Blackburn.

As good as confirmed.

was thinking the same, then I saw that Wolves only signed him permanently just 11 days ago for £10M

that sounds like a team who have that much money now they don't know what to do with it
