Great idea. Great concept. But there is a problem. Housebuilders are too fucking thick to embrace change.

 

Why the fuck it still takes 24 weeks to build a house in a field when in the same time you can get 30 storeys high in steel and concrete in the middle of a city centre I'll never understand.

 

That's ignoring the couple of years planning the commercial build before any groundworks commence though... as you well know

Manchester Council has a lot of prefab housing stock.  Although you wouldn't know it now as they've all been externally insulated and look like 'proper' houses.

My missus was brought up in a prefab in Rossall Road (Tun Fowt). Breeze block ends with curved corrugated steel roof which formed the front and back walls.

 

Moving into a semi detached council house was "like moving into a palace".
