Am running twice a week and swimming 3 times plus a gym session plus sauna

Only boozing at weekend

And still not got lower than 13st 11

Am shit at the diet bit mostly

Still feeling much better for all the exercise and not smoking though, which counts for somert and do feel more trim

Must be turning fat into muscle or something

Reet, this 5k I've lumbered myself with

I'm getting through about 4k now on couch 2 5k - just finished week 6

Do I need to be running over 5k before I take a park run on?

Also, as it's while I'm usually in bed, can I eat a bowl of cereal an hour before?

You could tackle a park run from scratch, no need to build up

Hundreds take part each week (thousands on some of them) with a wide range of abilities from lads at the front doing sub 20minutes to old timers at the back at a brisk walking pace. A fella on the cuerden park one tips up with a double pram every week, he's still got a reasonable pace to be fair to him

There's no need to run the full distance prior to the day for any event. "The occasion" and having people around to pace you makes the run different and I find easier than the training. If you are doing Bolton Park Run practise a couple of hill runs so it is not a shock on the day.

And no problem in having your cocoa pops an hour before.

Aye, I've got a nice little route that has some gradual climbs but pretty flattish

I'll test myself by the red bridge and nab gate, this week

I did think being able to run with other coffin dodgers would drag me round

Can't do this Saturday, so week on Saturday it is

Maybe you've reached a plateaux with your gym and running. Try and up the ante?

If possible give yourself a calorie target in your gym session? 500/600 in 45 then try and shorten the time.

Keep setting yourself goals or you'll naturally find a comfortable level find yourself sticking to that.

Going on the 5;2 has given my body the jolt it needed to get back in the swing of losing weight again as I'd proper slowed down. My 5 days are still only a 1000-1200 though. It's sad though some the creative things you have to do to only have 500 calories and not be starving on the 2 days.

As whites man says, you'll be fine eating an hour before, in fact you will be glad of the energy boost

I have a bowl of blue Alpen (with unsweetened almond milk) & a banana

Rating to go after that

Yeah I know I can run further

Gone up 0.5m during the week last time out and will prob stick with thst route for a bit

Thinking I need to do a 10k run on a Sunday instead of the gym where I just do 30 mins steady cardio for the sake of it, I'm really only going for the sauna

did the arthur lane/red bridge combo, last night - nice 5k lap

last climb nearly finished me, but got round

didnt help that there was a club run on, and after about 10 had galloped past, vanity stupidity kicked in and i tried to keep pace up the last hill

not recommended

oh aye, 24 lbs gone

I was once running a 10k rout in Macc/Prestbury, and a lad turned out of a gate 50 yards ahead of me. I tried to close the gap up a long hill, but made no impression.

The next week saw the honours list published, including his father. The lad turned out to be the reigning English Schools' under 17 800m champion.

What's the Red Bridge 5k route love?

I started at Harwood meadows, up to top of sml, quick left then right and around that first cul de sac then back to baci and onwards down and up the dip

Turn right down to red bridge and up other side

Right at crossroads back towards mine, but around Dove Dale for the missing yards, back out and home

Guess baci to baci Inc dovedale wouldn't be far off or finish at yours giving a nice downhill end :)

No wonder it was a rout.

ZK - try 20 mins HIIT at the gym instead.

4 mins warm-up - 8 rounds of 30 seconds

High Knees, Sit-ups, Star-Jumps, Squats (twice round of each)

4 mins tabata - 8 rounds of 20 seconds exercise, 10 seconds rest

Mountain climbers

6 mins of kettlebells

20 kb swings (start with a 12kb if you've not used them before)

15 kb squats

10 kb thrusters (squat into a thrust above your head)

keep repeating until the 6 mins is up

3 min burner

20 seconds sprint on spot

10 seconds light jog

Repeat 6 times

3 mins core - 45 seconds of each

Russian twists (using the 12kb)

Leg raises (but holding the 12kb above your head)

6 inch leg raise

Plank (off your elbows)

Stretch off. Job done. Hit the sauna.

Don't forget to put your kettle bells back!

Plenty of interval apps available - I use one call SIT (Simple Interval Timer)
