ZK - try 20 mins HIIT at the gym instead.

4 mins warm-up - 8 rounds of 30 seconds

High Knees, Sit-ups, Star-Jumps, Squats (twice round of each)

4 mins tabata - 8 rounds of 20 seconds exercise, 10 seconds rest

Mountain climbers

6 mins of kettlebells

20 kb swings (start with a 12kb if you've not used them before)

15 kb squats

10 kb thrusters (squat into a thrust above your head)

keep repeating until the 6 mins is up

3 min burner

20 seconds sprint on spot

10 seconds light jog

Repeat 6 times

3 mins core - 45 seconds of each

Russian twists (using the 12kb)

Leg raises (but holding the 12kb above your head)

6 inch leg raise

Plank (off your elbows)

Stretch off. Job done. Hit the sauna.

Don't forget to put your kettle bells back!

Plenty of interval apps available - I use one call SIT (Simple Interval Timer)

That looks like more than 20 mins to me

Took me about 10 to read it

But yeah, might try somert like that

Had beer every night this week and 3 bags of crisps today

Still under 14 stone though

I started at Harwood meadows, up to top of sml, quick left then right and around that first cul de sac then back to baci and onwards down and up the dip

Turn right down to red bridge and up other side

Right at crossroads back towards mine, but around Dove Dale for the missing yards, back out and home

Guess baci to baci Inc dovedale wouldn't be far off or finish at yours giving a nice downhill end :)

Times nowt to shout about 34:35 but just did it

From nothing 7 weeks ago, I'm pretty chuffed

Had a bit left so I reckon I can get a few minutes off that by summer

Good work Cassie, the time isn't that important really, the fact that you're actually doing something and improving is pretty good. Especially at your age  :)

You were doing so well

Must admit, your brothers times amaze me

I think at the moment I'm scared to overdo it and not get round so pace can wait

As said above, don't worry about the times. Just getting off your arse and doing something is the important thing. For me the first obstacle to overcome was being able to run the 5k without stopping ... and when you see the hill, charmingly known as Cruella, at Leverhulme you'll see why it's a big obstacle to overcome.

First time I did it without stopping though gave me as much of a buzz as any PB I've had since.

Keep up the good work.

Is the route online?

Aye.

Don't be soft though, just turn up and do it. There will be plenty behind you so don't worry about it.

Does it go straight up the 'road' at the side of the five a side or round the tracks at the back of it?

Start off on the athletics track, do one and a bit laps, then down the back of the 5-a-side pitches, downhill til you get to a park, then left and run along there until you get to a sort of road that runs from the bottom of Darcy up to Leverhulme. This is Cruella the hill. Up there and then head round left back towards the track again. Next to the track you head back downhill again and along the same path again and back up Cruella for the second time. Once at the top it's round to the left again and down the hill again, this time though at the bottom of the hill you head right and back up and behind the football pitches you ran past earlier. Once at the top, instead of going back into the track you take the patch left and head out towards Bury Rd. At the end of the path you turn round and head back the way you came but head straight back onto the athletics track for a quick 200m sprint to the finish line.

Easy peasy :)

Never done the Parkrun, but do you mean the hill up from the Lever Arms to the bowling greens? It's a piece of piss that, barely break sweat... :)

I was running up that hill at night once and I heard the most blood-curdling and loud scream/screech, presumably an owl - when I thought about it afterwards, shit myself and did the last 100m uphill in Usain Bolt time.

Had a deer jump out in front of me near there at dusk once when running, nearly ran into him/her, it did the old wild animal trick of 'if I look away from it, the human isn't there' whilst sniffing the air, then bounded off toward Tonge Cemetary...

I know which hill you mean now. Once went down on my bike and found my brakes not too effective.

Youri- there are loads of deer around here now. Won't be long before someone's got a freezer full of venison.

Nah, they've had an ACV slapped on them...

I'll know if someone does as there'll be a big pile of innards lying about, you gut an animal on the spot if you're know what you're doing - Ray Mears told me.

It's funny actually, running around there, Seven Acres and Raikes Clough etc. I've always had an eerie feeling/vibe of 'loony lurking in the trees with a crossbow' or 'escaped loony with a knife in the bushes' - hence me shitting it when that owl screamed, thowt it were the attack charge of a mentalist...
