SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Urgh. I need to start this. I'm currently 17st 7lb, and that's just too much. Any cardio tips for someone with horrifically bad knees? Quote
gonzo Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Urgh. I need to start this. I'm currently 17st 7lb, and that's just too much. Any cardio tips for someone with horrifically bad knees? Low impact stuff. Swimming would be perfect. Failing that nice and steady on a cross trainer. Quote
SnoopJohnnyJohn Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 (edited) Low impact stuff. Swimming would be perfect. Failing that nice and steady on a cross trainer. Might have to be the cross trainer then, I swim like a brick... Thanks Normally at the gym I just lift, but that tends to make me heavier. Edited March 7, 2017 by SnoopJohnnyJohn Quote
Moderators Casino Posted March 7, 2017 Author Moderators Posted March 7, 2017 Good effort. What's the target Cassie? 14 stone by the end of this month, was the target at new year (30lb loss) thought that would be easy, now i think ill get there last week of march if i get to 13, im definitely in aids victim territory 13 7 will give me a bit of room for blow outs, so prob that by end of may hate running, but thank your bro for me, for his encouragement last saturday Quote

Not in Crawley Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 Had a lovely 7k run this morning when back home - round moss bank and then up smithills dean, now I'm doing it more often my knees aren't playing up - just been building up to it and now starting to really enjoy it. Want to get to 13 stone in the next month or so. Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 7, 2017 Site Supporter Posted March 7, 2017 Do you never fancy joining the Lycra brigade and doing a bit of off road stuff- some great tracks around moses gate and Phillips park in particular. A bit less impact and more interesting. Do get shitted up though. Quote
Moderators Casino Posted March 7, 2017 Author Moderators Posted March 7, 2017 Used to do Phillips park Clough for the school cross country Quote
Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 7, 2017 Site Supporter Posted March 7, 2017 Strangely my school "cross country" was pretty much the route you mentioned earlier; Arthur lane and red lane etc Quote
Members DazBob Posted March 8, 2017 Members Posted March 8, 2017 Haigh Hall this Saturday. First half all downhill... It's a toughie. Quote
QFPants Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I'm doing the Wigan half marathon next Sunday; that goes through Haigh Hall so presumably that will be a test for the legs too? Quote

Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 8, 2017 Site Supporter Posted March 8, 2017 Alternate day fasting, waaaaay easier to skip a few meals a week then do the equivalent amount of exercise. Is that not dangerous- big fluctuations in blood sugar levels etc? Quote
no balls Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Is that not dangerous- big fluctuations in blood sugar levels etc? it's supposed to emulate when we were hunter/gatherer types. The 5:2 is a pretty successful version of this. Quote

Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 8, 2017 Site Supporter Posted March 8, 2017 Not unless you're a diabetic - or a borderline diabetic..... Aye; just thinking about what the mother in law tells me when she was a teacher up daubhill. Kids on Ramadan flaking out. I know kids may suffer more but still it must affect your ability to do stuff- it does with me! Quote
gonzo Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 Is that not dangerous- big fluctuations in blood sugar levels etc? It'd be dangerous in my house. I'd end up twatting everyone because I was hangry. Quote
