I'm doing the Wigan half marathon next Sunday; that goes through Haigh Hall so presumably that will be a test for the legs too?

All depends which way you go I suppose. The Parkrun starts at the cafe and it's a constant downhill for the first half, Obvs meaning the second half is constant uphill back to the start/finish. It's nice though as its proper woodland running.

I'd be hoping you get the downhill though if it's part of a half marathon. Still, it's hard on your knees. Best of luck.

Got my last big training run before the Manchester Marathon on Friday, a 20 miler. After that calorie expenditure I can tuck into unlimited sausage with all the trimmings guilt free.

I did the Burrs Park run in Bury this morning, it's a good alternative if you can't make the usual Saturday morning runs and fairly flat too.

Have my doubts about it being only 5k though as I came in 2 mins slower than I did at a far more challenging Haigh Hall run yesterday.

10 reps of 2kg v 40 at 1kg won't change much ????

Do 3 minutes of punching with 2k weights, hands up in front of your face all the time, you might want to change your opinion!

21 37 5k today. Ten pints tomorrow for gold cup day

In last year's Great South Run 5k Tom Bosworth finished 41st in 20:10. Walking.

But that is within his race pace for 20k.

Was up the hill and then back down afterwards, but even so fair fucks to anyone that does that every Saturday. Was half expecting dog walkers to overtake me at one point

I need a kick up the arse, over 2 mins slower for me at Bolton this week than my last run there. Seeing Casino struggle over the line and looking like he was going to die is the kind of effort I need to start putting in again.
