That was some knock by tom Hartley, 73* off 50 balls, 5 sixes and 7 fours. The moreso as he is really a bowler who can bat a bit, rather than an all-rounder.

[I've known his father for over 60 years!]

J R Hartley?

Its his sister that commentates on the England women iirc. She's good, adds a bit of humour.

I doubt it, She is from East Lancashire but Tom and his father Bill are from Ormskirk area, where the family have been market gardeners for decades.

Cheers.

Dunno where I'd heard that- maybe a confused pundit elsewhere?

She's still very good!

She also plays for Lancashire, was shagging Alex Davies. Maybe that's what's confused you?

Oh aye, I know she plays for the women's team.

Not sure how her shag partner would have led me to think she was Tom's sister though. 😁

Anyway, as an aside, the new ground could be sort of starting fairly soon- just the problem of some potentially nesting birds currently in the way of what will be the wickets!

Could grab a tremendous win at Trent Bridge.

but didn't. Hartley and Croft put on a swift 91 to rescue Lancs and set a demanding target.

Notts were 55/6 but Clarke and Hutton took them to 122/7 (needing to reach 295 to win).

Stuart Broad took anchor with Anderson bowling from one end and Hartley from the other, scoring 3 off 50 balls.

Hartley took a wicket with the first ball of the final over but Olly Stone (tweaked hamstring in the field) came in and saw out the remaining 5 balls.

Played 4 drawn 4, so only in 7th position in the table.

We’ve clearly had better weather than Manchester today; not unknown

Went on the SCG tour in Feb. The tour guide said that, on average, they had more cricket matches affected by rain than Manchester. Bit of trivia.

Didn’t take long. It’s from the Mail so who knows.😊

'Fittingly for a city which loses more Test cricket to rain than Manchester,

I was actually there on the fifth day and it was sunny and about 30deg. 🤷‍♂️

I’ve only had one day at the SCG, which was rain shortened, so 100% for me.

Had plenty at OT.
