Exiled Girl Posted April 25, 2017 Posted April 25, 2017 he got his county cap When did a capless captain last win a county championship match for Lancs? (Don't know the answer...) Quote
maaarsh Posted April 26, 2017 Posted April 26, 2017 Not in the ODI squads so we've got him for the next month, but likely to be absent for large parts of June with Lions (and reasonable chance of the same for Hameed unless he makes his main team selection case more obvious before then). Nevertheless, great start to the season - would have loved to have got over the line in either of the first 2 games, but looking around it's hard to see a much better team out there so should be a good year. MalcolmW Posted April 27, 2017 Posted April 27, 2017 When did a capless captain last win a county championship match for Lancs? (Don't know the answer...) Maybe Archie MacLaren v Yorkshire in 1893? He was captain for the match and club captain the following season. His first appearance was as an 18 year-old in 1890. Although he topped the averages in 1892 he did not play regularly as he was working at the District Bank, so he may well not have been capped. Quote
Salford Trotter Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Good start by Lancs in the Roses One dayer Quote
miamiwhite Posted May 7, 2017 Author Posted May 7, 2017 Great knock from Crofty today for Lancs. Decent game so far with Warwickshire making a fight of it. Quote
miamiwhite Posted May 8, 2017 Author Posted May 8, 2017 Couple of Kolpak signings made today. Shivnarine Chanderpaul and South African international wicketkeeper Dane Vilas. Also looking to sign a big name for the T20. Big name signed for the T20......Jayawardene the Sri Lankan... Great signing. Quote
Salford Trotter Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Lancs marching onto victory...Worcs 84 for 6 chasing Lancs 313 Quote
miamiwhite Posted May 10, 2017 Author Posted May 10, 2017 Vilas and Jordan Clark in particular having a fine game. Clark has been very impressive this season especially with the bat. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 10, 2017 Posted May 10, 2017 Over 300 scored in each match so far. Obviously lost a couple but good nonetheless. Quote
miamiwhite Posted May 10, 2017 Author Posted May 10, 2017 And Clark could be a shoe in for one day internationals.... Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 11, 2017 Posted May 11, 2017 And Clark could be a shoe in for one day internationals.... That would be new. Balance the side up nicely. Quote
miamiwhite Posted May 11, 2017 Author Posted May 11, 2017 That would be new. Balance the side up nicely. Heel be a good addition to the team and certainly sock it to them. Toe Anders Flo. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Stunning finish and another great victory. Quote
miamiwhite Posted May 12, 2017 Author Posted May 12, 2017 Good win for the Red Rose Express. That target we chased down under the Dickhead/Lewis system wants some looking at. I'm scratching my napper trying to work that figure out. Quote
MalcolmW Posted May 12, 2017 Posted May 12, 2017 Good win for the Red Rose Express. That target we chased down under the Dickhead/Lewis system wants some looking at. I'm scratching my napper trying to work that figure out. Derbyshire batted in the expectation of facing many more overs than they did, and saved wickets to no great benefit. Lancs knew how many overs they might face and therefore could risk wickets to chase runs. Therefore the target was (far) more than Derbyshire scored. But as D & L are both Lancastrians it is fair - really. Quote

MalcolmW Posted May 13, 2017 Posted May 13, 2017 Idea makes some sense, but occasionally I do think it needs tweaking. It almost certainly does (I'm sure it has been updated at least once). You may find "Duckworth Lewis: The Method and the Men behind it" by Frank Duckworth and Tony Lewis of interest. Quote
