Members bolty58
Even allowing for a friendly, Lukas Podolski's testimonial etc., encouraging performance that. Could have had it wrapped up by HT. Cahill stands tall and it would have been a creditable draw. Always been a bad un that lad, thank fuck we aren't stuck with him Must admit my biggest smile of the night was on learning that Tranmere v Macclesfield drew a bigger crowd than Scotland v Canada
Burndens Bogs
I quite enjoyed the game despite it being a Podolski cream fest, I thought England moved the ball well and showed a lot of confidence. But we all know not to get carried away with England friendlies ffs.
Members bolty58
Absolutely! Still, ever the optimist, I am hoping for a new dawn under Gareth Southgate. We shall overcome.
gonzo
We beat Germany away about 5 games before Iceland.
Members bolty58
Very true Gonzo. Friendlies mean fuck all - we all know that. Far more important at home to Lithuania at the weekend and it will be a very different England team for that one.
bgoefc
We beat Germany away about 5 games before Iceland. Aye, we always look good in friendlies when there is zero pressure, have done for decades. When we reach tournaments we revert to type. It will no different in Russia.
Didledee
Quite promising that last night, both teams without key players and England played very well especially 1st half, Lallana is a magic player, the way he turns with the ball is unlike any player we have, Ali and Vardy caused them problems, really should have been an England victory, Germany were so bad int he first half they could only improve and they didn't really, just one long shot and a couple of runs from Sane, the one were he got in behind Keane was a good save from Hart. England outplayed Germany last year, beat Portugal, dominated the Group performance wise, but fucked up vs Iceland, there's not a lot between the top European sides, still think if we have everyone fit, we should be contenders for the WC, mentality as to be right though along with abilty. Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 23, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted March 23, 2017 Lots to be happy with but still a bit sterile. I thought Ali was quiet compared to spuds performances. A bit tippy tally to use BSA comments- need more end product.
Croal Docker 9
Thought England where far the better team for 70mins Germany played like we normally play giving the ball away .one sour note besides the score was the booing of the German anthem ,thought we where we'll past this
