MalcolmW
and arsenal to qualify for chumpions league instead of city /Liverpool Strangely, there are three possible pairs of results which will result in a PL tie for either third or fourth place. A tie for fourth would require a neutral play-off to determine who gets the final Chumps League spot. A tie for third would require the same to determine who gets direct to the group stage and who has to face a CL qualifying pairing (in future seasons all 4 will go through directly). The matching combinations: Arsenal score draw with Everton and Liverpool lose by 2 goals at home to Middlesbrough, with the same number of goals in each match: 1-1 and 0-2, 2-2 and 1-3, 3-3 and 2-4, etc. ManCity draw 3-3 (or higher) at Watford and Liverpool beat Middlesbrough by 3 goals, scoring the same number as City: 3-3 and 3-0, 4-4 and 4-1, 5-5 and 5-2, etc. Arsenal win by the odd goal v Everton and ManCity lose by 4 goals at Watford, scoring 1 less than Arsenal: 1-0 and 0-4, 2-1 and 1-5, 3-2 and 2-6, etc.

SoberDan
Reading finished 2nd but due to only 2 teams going up 2nd was the 1st play off spot rather than automatic promotion. Something they have begrudged us for ever since
gonzo
Something they have begrudged us for ever since I honestly reckon if second was on that season we'd have got it. The draws against Stoke and WBA at the end flattered them. We were robbed at reading on that Friday night as well.
