MickyD Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Since Jay-Jay signed for Bolton. Will ther ever be players of his quality gracing our turf again? Quote
Mike Hunt Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Got to hope and pray. Let's face it, 15 years before he signed would we have ever thought about player of his quality would grace the white shirt? Quote
gonzo Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Only scored 14 goals. Thought it would be more than that. Quote
Sweep Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Only scored 14 goals. Thought it would be more than that. I recall he was never a great goal scorer for us, but he was a scorer of great goals. I would have thought he scored more than just 14 though, was that just league goals though maybe? - I'm sure Diddles will be along with the correct numbers shortly. Quote

Lostock Whites Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 (edited) He was our captain, our free kick and corner taker, our thrower, our providier and without a doubt our most skilful player to ever wear the Bolton and potentially a Premier league team shirt. So good they named him twice. Edited June 18, 2017 by Lostock Whites Quote
Traf Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 More of a youri fan myself The fact you have a choice speaks volumes for the squad we assembled Quote
cbwfcd Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 I'm not sure there are is anyone who has that kind of skill. One of a kind Quote
radcliffe white Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 The fact you have a choice speaks volumes for the squad we assembledit does indeed squads packed with quality in them years Quote
stevieb Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Fantastic years to be a white and we'll never see that again. We were basically where those in the twilight of their career chose instead of swanning off to China these days. Us offering 30k a week was massive. You get that being in City's "elite development squad" (probably). Quote
Didledee Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 (edited) The only player I can compare dribbling, trickery and unique wise is Ronaldinho, both were amazing entertainment, others player may have done more than JJ, but skill/ability wise, he's no.1. Edited June 18, 2017 by Didledee Quote
tomski Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 He brought a lot of joy to me over them 4 years???? Quote
Happy Wanderer Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 I can still see those 2 goals he score against Villa in the cup game. Truly amazing player. He destroyed teams on his own, Spurs away for instance! Quote
Alf Hartigan Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 I fucking love him, did he ever score a tap in? Remember going to a pre season friendly v Burnley on my jack jones and being unaware we'd signed him. He was not fit at the time but trying everything (shooting from 40 yards and trying to dribble round everyone) I think I said words to the effect 'who's this fucking idiot' The idiot turned out to be the best BWFC player I've ever seen. Youri's the second. Tony Caldwell third. Quote

Biggish Dave Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 West Ham at home was one of most I've celebrated a goal. I was right behind the line of the ball, as soon as it left his boot it was in. Tbf he hit it that hard, hardly took anytime anyway Quote
paulhanley Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 My favourite Jay Jay memory is his performance at White Hart Lane in 2003. He was absolutely on top of his brilliant game that day and did everything bar score. It was his shot that was parried for Nolan to tap in for our winner though. Just brilliant. As mentioned, the screamer v West Ham ... plus of course his free kick in the all important last day win over Middlesbrough. Quote
mannyroad58 Posted June 19, 2017 Posted June 19, 2017 Frank Worthy was always my favorite player until this guy turned up, what a footballer Met him at the legends do had my photo taken on my phone which is now my screen saver Took a photo of him and Little Whitt but couldn't get them both on the screen and cut JJ's head off, LW wasn't amused Quote
