Thanks for this Jay, not been on here for a while but was gonna post something.

Our Gaz passed away on Sunday afternoon. He'd had a major heart op 7 years ago at the age of 30 followed by cancer the following year. He then needed another heart op in october 2016. He'd been doing really well, was working hard as always and was blessed with his first child in January this year. We don't know the exact cause yet but was sudden and we're all in massive shock.

He was a massive Wanderer and had a flag delivered on saturday morning with "Silchester Whites" - thats where he lived, just outside Reading.

Received some amazing words from people including from those who knew him off here so thanks for those.

He'll be massively missed

Jimmy

Only just seen this

Really sorry for your loss mate; thoughts with you and the rest of your family pal

Hadn't seen Gareth for a while until Sheff Utd a few months back

He had a fantastic Phillip Schofield hair style :)

He was in the tap on the station pre and post match and sank a couple at half time

He had obviously been through a lot but was still the pleasant chatty lad we first met about 10 years ago

Despite all he had been through

I really am proper gutted by this news

Wow. Have just realised who this is

Gareth was one of my good mates when we were younger and we played cricket and football together as well as watching the whites.

Drifted apart in latter years but always considered a mate

Sincere condolences to the family

Rest In peace my mate sleep tight

Was in the same junior and senior school as Gaz in Little Lever, knew him well at school and always said hello when he was back up north. Poor lad has been through more than most and this came as a real shock. RIP and thoughts are with all of his family.

Feel very sad sat at my desk reading this.

Went to North Bolton College with Gaz. Havent really seen him for over a decade.

Had some very memorable trips watching Bolton with him from around 1997 onwards when we were all 17/18 years old.

RIP Gaz D
