Pounds up👍😊

Which predictably means the FTSE is down.

Royal Mail is an interesting one as the shareholders have been getting around 5.5% ROI so it's not a particularly strong income investment compared to say, Diageo which is paying around 14%. Obviously in an industrial dispute someone has to take a hit - either the workers or the shareholders - and it's a management matter of balancing investor payments with workforce retention and development (which theoretically should lead to higher investor returns in the longer term)

Either way, failing to pay staff what they're worth is a disastrous strategy and more likely to cause the collapse of an enterprise than investor appeal as a well run business shouldn't need new investors if it's making the requisite profit to reinvest.

Great news. One of the worst polluters who haven't met their responsibilities for cleaning up their mess and have already divested a lot of their assets to Petrogas (Ireland) anyway.

The North Sea is better off without them - but this bluster from the French won't change a thing - they make so much money out of the UK they aren't going anywhere - it's just a load of hot air to try to get the windfall tax cut so they can make even more profit.

And if they do fuck off, the government could always consider renationalising the industry so that we don't get our pants pulled down by the global pisstakers any more.

Tories got absolutely twatted in the by election.

Shame that.

A massively increased Labour majority despite the outgoing MP resigning over "sexual misconduct" charges - which you'd have thought would have reduced support for Labour if anything. Apparently not.

41% turn out and you think that’s a vote of confidence? Sensible people just stayed at home and didn’t bother voting at all other that some Labour numpties who couldn’t wait to get a blow in on the Tory’s. A bit like you really Lusty. 🥱

Doesn't matter what the turnout is, it's a slapping.

Hello mate. Your stock cliche defence may be right - but one thing is for sure and that is it's certainly not a vote of confidence in the government.

Moreover I'm struggling to understand your assumption - why would supporters of the government not turn out to support their candidate? - especially at a time when there's an open goal, a chance to increase/protect the parliamentary majority and to create a media narrative of national support for Sunak?

Completely agree it’s not a vote of confidence for the government Lusty but really who could have any after the cock up they’ve made since the last election? If it had been in my constituency I wouldn’t have voted as a message to the party that they need to stop this left of centre socialist crap and get back onto Conservative policies. Sadly they are completely ignorant of voters priorities and have no intention of changing, which means Tories we’re right to stay at home yesterday which is exactly what they did.
