Removal of eu laws doesn't guarantee dropping standards. Just purely part of the transition process. It only allows for such things to happen, should any government here deem that necessary, which hasnt happened. We've already completed the Transition process. Why would the likes of Rees-Mogg be so keen to repeal laws if it's not to lower standards, or at least "allow that to happen" in future? Site Supporter Spider Posted January 5, 2023 Site Supporter Share Posted January 5, 2023 Starmer mentioning partnerships between private sector and the NHS sounds ok but I remember the Building Schools for the Future programme that the last Labour govt brought in. Great idea in principle and it worked right up until unscrupulous bidding systems meant that companies were working on margins of 1% or less. It needs to be a system that’s similar but one that’s learnt from the mistakes of BSF. If they do, then it’s a winner because it keeps everything local where possible, employs lots of people and benefits the communities. Sunak has said he’ll halve inflation though. Even though the BoE have said that’s certain to happen already.

The Brexit Freedoms Bill will enable the UK government to remove years of burdensome EU regulation in favour of a more agile, home-grown regulatory approach that benefits people and businesses across the UK. By removing these legal restraints and replacing them with what works for the UK, our businesses and economy can innovate and grow to new levels. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-government-to-set-its-own-laws-for-its-own-people-as-brexit-freedoms-bill-introduced Edited January 5, 2023 by Mounts Kipper

I’ve Seen many people saying more topics used in everyday life should be taught in school. Areas such as taxes, mortgages, pensions, savings etc. maybe use these extra 2 years to cover these subjects?
Site Supporter MickyD Posted January 5, 2023 Site Supporter Share Posted January 5, 2023 It depends what ‘maths’ they decide upon. Differentiation and integration type maths was bollocks which very few people ever used outside the classroom. If they were learning budgeting, accountancy skills and that type of maths then why not? Do you have the school capacity to make people do an extra 2 year, also do you have the teachers

There's already a massive shortage of Maths teachers. And if you're shit at Maths by the age of 16, 2 additional years will make fuck all difference. Some people just aren't wired that way. gonzo
You can barely keep todays 16 year olds from being utter bellends, smoking weed and staying in bed all day, never mind keep them in maths education. Its absolute fantasy island soundbite horseshit spoke by a PM completely out of his depth and a party so out of touch they may as well be on the fucking moon. The whole country is in meltdown and that silly cunt is on about maths lessons. Hed have been better off saying they should all learn how cook soup on a camping stove in the dark and how to skin pigeons, because the way the country is going, thats how we will have to live. Imagine Corbyn coming out with such bollocks? He was castigated for the free tution fees and wifi for all stuff. This clown has taken it to the next level. Bunch of incompetent, corrupt wankers. I hope every sector in the land strikes and riots start till the cunts are gone.

mickbrown
Do you reckon they'll pay for extra teachers to do this? Will they fuck as like. Nonsense idea by a nonsense bloke, leading a nonsense government ran by a fucking ridiculous party.
Not in Crawley
My cousin is head of maths at a secondary school, he texted to say what a massive load of utter bollocks. It's not needed. More decent maths teachers first please as below GCSE level it's not being taught be subject specialists. To then lob it onto extra A Levels as well is pointless. It's also the last thing this government should be focusing on at the moment.

Site Supporter MickyD Posted January 5, 2023 Site Supporter Share Posted January 5, 2023 The worry is the number of historical Conservative voters who would rather not vote at all than vote for the only viable opposition to this government. I think Labour could get in with the lowest turnout in history.
