MPs are getting 2.9%, which to me looks like a shithousing manoeuvre, so that the Govt highlight the "unions' greed" in asking for more.

The fact is that MPs are getting a £2,500 rise without having to compromise on working conditions etc and certainly isn't performance related.

Most people who have been striking would have settled for a similar rise with no clauses.

Why not tell MPs they can have their rise, but a third of them are being axed and we'll run with 430 MPs.

Am I missing something re this economic miracle? 😁

Reading the articles - most seem to be saying we narrowly avoided a recession (welcome news but not anything to shout about) - and that if we had record levels of growth, it's because we had record levels of loss the year before. So on balance - we're returning to the mean?

Have I missed something?

No.

we are growing more than the others but it’s only because our economy got so bad that any growth would appear amplified.

Dont spoil their day.

Their day? Surely we all want good news on the economic front. We are all in this together. Aren’t we?
The good news is it ain’t as bad as some predicted. The reality is that we are in the same doldrums as the rest of the G7 (whithin very narrow limits) Forecasts vary but forecasts also get things wrong.

I agree that any good news on the economic front is excellent, no matter how small

I'm not so sure I ever believe the "we're all in it together" type mantra we hear trotted out though

Really. I’m pretty sure everyone on this forum wants some economic stability and then some sustainable growth.

You're not, but don't say anything otherwise you're 'talking the country down' TM

Sorry, I thought that you were talking in a David Cameron type way, meaning everybody in the UK, when he suggested that "We're all in this together" - not just about the members of this forum.

We've never been all in it together. Osborn wants twatting for even thinking that never mind using it as a slogan.
