GB News already exists though. Assuming it’s unapologetically biased news you’re after?

A foil for the mountain of woke lefty bullshit foisted upon the British public for over two decades. Long overdue. You want balance? It provides it in the general political discourse arena.

I think you've also missed the news today where Jewish leaders have joined the Archbishop in their condemnation of the new migration bill. Claiming it to be "cruelty without purpose". An opinion you might disagree with, but clearly the Jewish community has a lot of support for Lineker's tweet.

I honestly never thought I'd see the day yourself and RW would be stumbling about the place desperately trying to justify someone being sacked for their 'offensive' opinion. How the tables have turned, it's lovely to watch.

You have to be fucking joking. It is you woke types who are laughable. Railing against free speech for years (#illridewithyou etc) and then all of a sudden when one of your media darlings breaches his contract and is rightfully admonished for it you suddenly are on the 'free speech for all' bandwagon.

The only stumbling around desperately is from your side of the divide. I do hope he digs in his heels and gets potted permanently.

If he comes under the same rules/guidance Then he should be done as well.
Does he come under the same rules/guidance??

And as I’ve said from the start if they have wrongly suspended him then I hope he takes them to the cleaners.

I like the way glue boy seems to have elected himself as the sole arbiter of who has a leg to stand on or otherwise. Arrogance Lineker would be proud of.

It's good to see folk who normally agree in cancelling out others steaming in so hard because one of their own has been cancelled.

Feels good, does it lads? 💦

Welcome onboard.

You’re a Woke now. Enjoy the ride x

You keep trying to put a spin on things. I’ll break it down for you. Make it nice and easy.

I don’t care if you’re left, right or centre, I believe in freedom of speech. I also believe big firms are right to put in guidelines as to what you can and can’t say on social media. Especially with organisations like the BBC. If linekar has broken his agreement and refuses to apologise then the BBC have no other option. If the BBC have fucked up then lineker needs to Sue them.

There we go - we're getting there. Though I'm not sure you can believe in freedom of speech yet also believe in those guidelines. Fair do's if it's a news presenter, or he's made an insanely offensive comment. But it's not the case, it's clearly a fuck up, the more it goes on the more obvious it becomes.

One of our own 🤣

Out of interest... who on here has been normally agreeing in cancelling others out? If you could give us some examples, name some names, that would be great.

I think you've missed the point where it's those who've been critical of cancel culture for years, are now completely silent when it's someone they disagree with. Even calling for the lad to be sacked 😆 Apart from Clarkson and Piers Morgan that is. It's hypocrisy at it's finest and it does feel good.

You just sound like an angry broken record pal.

I’ve never called for anyone to be cancelled’- funnily enough I’m anti cancelling people for their opinions. Funnily enough, I also didn’t really agree with Lineker’s point in his tweet. I’m just defending his right to say it. It’s lovely watching you stuttering over who should and shouldn’t be cancelled, based on which opinion you like the most. Just lovely.

I remember Frankie Worthy saying in one of his books that Lineker was a cunt who only cared about money and it's really tainted my view of him over the years. That and him being a massive titty liner.

Not relevant to the current news situation but just thought I'd mention it in passing.

Aye, I do think he's a massive twat but he's really not done anything wrong here

He used to quote the old 'I might not agree with you but I'll defend to the death your right to say it'.

Quelle surprise, he's full of shit

Ahh the plot gets better.

I reckon you can have a boom for that find💥

let’s see how he crawls out of that one. Probably by getting all angry and calling me a glue sniffer.

I genuinely can't think of anyone who has called for someone to be cancelled on here?

You'd have to give me an example.

I can think of lots of times when someone has said something bloody stupid and we've all pointed it out. But that's not really the same thing.

Just changing the subject slightly. My mate is a junior doctor and has just posted this.

Their pay since 2009 adjusted for inflation.

He also posted this.......

"Friends, many of you will be concerned by the BBC News article about greedy work-shy doctors demanding unreasonable pay rises this week.

Yes, it's true that the median junior doctor (anyone who isn't a consultant or specialist, which ranges from graduation through to 10+ years after qualifying) is higher than the median pay in this country. After the debt of 6+ years at university, plus countless professional exams (which we pay for ourselves), and yearly fees to the GMC, indemnity, and Royal Colleges (which we pay for ourselves) while working 48h a week, including nights and 1:3 weekends making lifesaving decisions, this doesn't seem unreasonable to me.

And yes, it's also true that we get pay rises as we progress in seniority. This again seems fair - as you shoulder more of the burden of responsibility and decision making, you should get paid more for that. The manager of a shop gets paid more than the till staff because the buck stops with them.

But this isn't about any of that. This industrial action is calling for *pay restoration*. We don't want more money for doing our job, just want to be back on a par with where juniors were before inflation started outstripping pay rises back in 2008.

Ask yourself whether a junior doctor today, be they a first year FY1 or a final year ST8 trainee, is seriously worth 26% less than the same doctor in 2008? We're working harder, with more hoops to jump through and higher costs associated with training, but being paid only 3/4 of what our colleagues were 15 years ago.

And that, in my mind at least, isn't fair. Nor is it how we keep the best and brightest doctors in this country, caring for you, when they could easily go abroad and get paid twice as much to work less in Australia or America.

So this is ultimately a question of how our Government values junior doctors, and by extension how they value your health. Are the people trying to perform your surgery, run your clinics, report your scans, or fix your broken bones while struggling in a grossly (some may say deliberately?) under-resourced system really only worth 3/4 of what they once were?

I hope you'll see through the propaganda coming from the Government, and support us this week. It really isn't an easy decision, walking away from our patients, but we're doing it to safeguard your NHS going forward."

Is that the tweet he deleted and apologised for?

Yeah, he deleted a racist tweet and later half-arsedly apologised.

So, it's OK to be racist if you mumble an apology and you can keep your job.

https://www.nuffieldtrust.org.uk/resource/chart-of-the-week-pay-has-fallen-in-real-terms-for-most-nhs-staff-groups-since-2010#:~:text=Nuffield Trust analysis of NHS,' pay fell by 8%.

The third time I've posted this. Don't recall any responses.

So who is correct?

Put it simply, after the financial crash, everyone had their pay drop in real terms. When the money has gone, spending drops.

Wages started going back up in real terms, even during the pandemic borrowing, things didn't worsen. The war has fucked things up seriously since though.

Not that anyone will give a fuck, but my missus didn't get any increase in salary for several years, and there was no outcry.

If people believe in equity, then the public sector should be treated equally, across the board.

As I've said before, folk can debate whether or not post-crash spending cuts went on too long- historians will no doubt do this for years- but since the last election attempts have been made to get those salaries going in the right direction again, and comparatively, the nhs has started to get those rises before other public areas.

I've no issue with that, things have to start somewhere and good luck to those workers, but the issue is much wider than the nhs.

We’ve discussed similar before.

incredibly, for our younger viewers, the world didn’t start in 2010.

Many seem to want to use part of history rather than all. What is a comparative graph, say from 1997?

And, when you say “pay”, does it include deferred pay (AKA Pension) and it is just what a Junior Doctor would receive if they remained a Junior Doctor. I understand many go on to earn considerably more.

Context is everything.
