Do people think that a prime minister ultimately makes decisions or are they just the figurehead for decisions taken as a much much bigger group? If you do think a prime minister makes decisions then are all the members of a 70 million strong population not severely mentally ill for passing responsibility for their lives to a single individual? The PM is the leader who will set out the direction and principles of the Govt. They should then have around them team that delivers the vision. As with any large organisation leadership involves setting the example and their behaviour influences others. The best leaders have the charisma to do this and the security in themselves to let others get on and deliver without micro managing. Another type of leader is someone who lacks the charisma but is good on the detail and controls the spend, loads of top bosses are accountants by trade. The worse possible boss imo is someone with the charisma but no real vision or personal responsibility so if they are prepared to simply lie and bull shit that becomes acceptable. They do not have any vision so are totally reactive rather than proactive. In short the PM sets the agenda and standards others deliver to it. A good leader lifts people so the group is better than the individual parts. A shit leader like Boris does the opposite. Instead of delivering change the cabinet spend their time fucking about in interviews saying it was not a party, it was not a lie etc etc. The biggest success Boris' lot have had was vaccine roll out, vision was get it out by x date and then basically left it to others to deliver. They did that and it was brilliant. Boris rightly gets credit for it because he set the agenda and let the experts deliver. (NHS , Army , logistics experts etc) As for the second part the question used to be which party are you voting for so based on policies , these days it is more of a popularity contest, Starmer is attacked for being boring, Boris is a maverick and some people latch onto that as justification for his actions. (Or maybe as justification for them supporting him and giving home the job despite his track record for being a lying incompetent twat)

Lt. Aldo Raine
I see Macron's lost his overall parliamentary majority. Le Pen's party is projected to increase their number of seats from 8 to 85. 😳

Ani
Apparently teachers are wanting a pay rise of about 12% ! Or they are looking at strikes.
Site Supporter Spider Posted June 20, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted June 20, 2022 I bet Boris is hard at work sorting everything out though. He definitely won't be rallying the troops for another week of "save big dog"

He definitely won't be rallying the troops for another week of "save big dog" He'll be absolutely itching for the teachers to go on strike, in the same way that he wants the RMT to strike, as it takes the attention away from him. In other news, I see that only a few weeks after winning the Presidential election in France, Macron has now lost his majority.

Site Supporter Spider Posted June 20, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted June 20, 2022 "Labour won't condemn the strike action" So fucking what. Neither will my dog, and it's about as relevant. I deplore folk going on strike but even I can see their point on this one. Even taking Brexit out of the equation, The Dream Team of Boris and co. are sleepwalking us into a very nervy summer. He's shit, but it's ok because some lesbians got annoyed.

Site Supporter MickyD Posted June 20, 2022 Site Supporter Share Posted June 20, 2022 It’s fuck all to do with which sector someone works in. It just so happens the public sector are lagging way behind the private sector as far as the payment for a day’s work goes. Working my whole life in the public sector and with a son just starting life in the private sector I know a 25 year old earning over £10k more in year one of a career than his old man in his 30th year of a career. He sits in front of a computer all day dealing with suppliers from all over the world. I went running into burning buildings where natural instinct says don’t. Fair day’s pay for a fair day’s work? Feel free to fuck off and then fuck further off!
