So we've been complaining to our Landlord about our kitchen floor as 5 years ago a pipe busted. Monday finally somone came round. Email at 6pm - you have 2 months to leave. We've lived here for 6 years. We want to gut the house and we don't want anyone living there. We pay 2.3k a month. No wonder the Labour Party want to stop this eviction for families. It’s not that easy to get tenants out. If you do a bit of research you could stay there for up to 12 months. Quote

The kitchen needs redoing because it needs a new floor (a pipe burst 3 years ago and the kitchen flooded, because it chipboard laid over joists it just soaked the water up and we've been saying for years can e get this looked at) He doesn't want any tenet in whilst that happens. We believe it's an excuse to get us out and either sell or raise the rent. The issue is the 2 months, we were on a year long contract before covid and have been asking for 2 years to be put back on but deafening silence. We need more time to sort out what we're doing and where we need to go. We have been talking for a while about going to Folkestone as we're not in London everyday but that's not a quick decision and over nearly a decade in this area we've built up a life as well. Quote

Had been paying the letting agency for 6 months and they’d be trousering it all. Then had the cheek to kick off and ask when I was paying my share the last month. Knob I was living with paid em. Is quite stressful. Quote

Thats a bit shit and you’re probably right regarding him wanting to either sell or up the rent. You’d have thought he would give you at least 6 months considering he’s left the kitchen in a state for so long. I’ve just been having a nosey at rent prices in Croydon on right move. They seem to be a lot cheaper than I thought they would be. *which is pointless when you’re in Crawley 🤦🏻 Edited April 26 by royal white Quote

Would it be rude of me to ask, if your household income affords you a £2.3k/month rent payment, why isn’t it paying for a home you’ll eventually own rather than paying for someone else to own it? Even if owning a home would put you slightly further away from London. Quote
royal white Posted April 26 Posted April 26 I’m genuinely surprised at the rental prices in *CRAWLEY. There’s not much difference between there and Walkden by the looks of it. Quote

If he's acting the c*nt about it you could always do the same? He's only getting you out in 2 months if you let him! At the very least you'd hope you could negotiate longer notice in return for paying the rent, looking after it and going quietly when you're both ready. Quote
