Hang on. We’re suddenly taking notice of Euro elections?

We hardly ever voted in them, cos they meant fuck all in reality.

Even pricks like UKIP had seats over here.

More the voting trends

The other day, I watched a telly programme called “the news” where a load of old codgers wearing medals said they watched their mates get blown to bits on a beach whilst fighting against a far right idealogy.

maybe if they’d just stayed at home none of this woke bollocks would ever have happened.

Its no wonder Rishi couldn’t get out of there fast enough, what a waste of time.

Happening all over Europe. The population is seeing what many in the UK are either blind to or don't want to see.

Visionaries matey. Visionaries.

So.....are we here in the UK "blind and don't want to see" or are we the Visionaries, because we voted Brexit?

The interesting thing, in reality, will be if any of these countries that are now leaning more to the right, decide they want out of the EU. We were promised that the Dutchers and the French would quickly follow suit, but a few years later we're still waiting...

I guess Putin will be quite pleased there is a bit of instability in Europe

That's my take on it too. Marie Le Pen takes a very different stance on issues like aid to Ukraine than the European status quo. I imagine the other similar parties across Europe take the same line.

Which isn't reassuring news for Ukraine. Especially with DT waiting in the wings.

Have they moved to the right in spite of it or because of it do you reckon?

I posted a link last week from politico about the upcoming EU elections. This is from the article.

‘In Belgium, France, Portugal, Germany and Finland, younger voters are backing anti-immigration and anti-establishment parties in numbers equal to and even exceeding older voters, analyses of recent elections and research of young people’s political preferences suggest.’

I guess that figures.

If young people think their futures are being affected by immigration.

And younger voters are always more likely to vote against the established order!

Brexit was never about other countries leaving the EU.

I know that, and you know that, but it didn't stop some people suggesting that as soon as we did, we would soon be followed.

Anyway, if these elections are what is required for the EU to look at both immigration policy and changes to Schengen, then maybe it's a good thing. As we're not part of the EU anymore, I guess we don't need to get our knickers too much in a twist either way. I've been told for years nothing ever changes within the EU anyway, so I'll not hold my breath for sweeping reforms over the coming weeks/months

Maybe Labour will have a rethink about their plans to lower the age.😉

In April we discussed the EU’s immigration pact. 10 years in the making but finally ratified. If it has the desired effect, restrictions of migrants moving around Europe should mean less attempting to cross the channel. What happens over there does have an impact on us.
I won’t hold my breath though.

I agree it should. Although, I reckon the EU can agree whatever they want, it won't stop people travelling across from Africa to Europe, and then those that want to, will still head towards us.

Restricting migrants moving around Europe is OK, as long as you know they exist in the first place. If you don't know they exist, then it's difficult to stop them moving anywhere. No matter what anybody says, there will never actually be physical "hard borders" in place across Europe.

Less crossing the channel would be nice of course, but you'll still get some dicks complaining about immigration, even though most of those that come to this country are actually allowed to be here, as they've come via the proper channels.

You can prevaricate all you want. The visionaries were the leavers. I'll let you work out the other side of the equation.

Nothing moves quickly in the EU (one of the drivers of Leave). Those thinking about it will have observed the Brussels bastardry post Brexit and probably thought to have all their ducks in a row before fucking the monolithic quango off.

Wait a little longer.

The pieces are moving.

Spot on mate. The dawn of realisation. It irks the Walshaw ayatollah but was a consideration in my acceptance of the approach from down under.

I could see diminishing opportunities for my then 4 and 2 year olds even then in '87.

Both mortgage free with nice homes now before 40th birthdays. On reflection, the right move.
