I was a union official for 5 years and think they have a lot to offer, I am still a member of the union (Unite) and pay my monthly subs, so stop making things up (again) and twisting what people say Quote

If I've misunderstood you, then fair enough comrade. ✊ Quote

Been in unions myself. In principle, they're a decent idea, just that from my experience, too many officials have their own agenda, and at tines will "use members". I've only ever had one decent rep, and he was brilliant. Instead of constantly wanting to do battle with management, he worked in conjunction with them to get issues resolved for his members. In a different role, when I had a significant problem, my rep would turn up for a chat about it pissed. A fucking disgrace. Also seen the barrel chested, vacuous, loud mouthed, bullying type who liked to give it large to managers and whip up members, all whilst achieving fuck all. Unions should be solely there to represent members, but for me, far too often they approach things in the wrong way, with an ideological stance, getting into areas they shouldn't, and ultimately failing to fulfil their purpose. Reading his post on X then the issue for me is, did these issues REALLY only come to light to him last week? If that's the case then he's taken some pretty robust action to resolve things....... Replace the property managers Refund the tenants Personally review the properties If he's known about it for longer (and I find it hard to believe that he didn't) then he's both a liar and a shit landlord and needs booting. Quote

Or do you disagree and we don't have an issue with illegal employment? The sooner we have mandatory ID the better imo. Quote

Which I did not know , surprised it is so widely supported. ( I only briefly look at article as battery is dying on my phone so apologies if I have missed the point 😂) Quote

Interesting all the talk is about pubs when it also covers "universities, children’s play areas and small parks" Certainly agree with the last two Went to Japan few years back, What is bonkers there is smoking is banned pretty much everywhere outside, but you can smoke inside at bars and restaurants, such as those poky little  teppanyaki places where everyone is huddled round and the food is cooked right in front of you Quote

Not sure about the polling, it doesn’t reference which one and there are many polls knocking about. I’m in favour of it by the way but I can understand why others aren’t. Edited September 6, 2024 by BobyBrno Quote
