Go to rural Alabama or wherever and there are Christian’s 600 years behind everyone else. I also think that most of the people very concerned about Islam would be also the ones very annoyed about sex education in schools and also in opposition to women’s rights in many cases. I don’t buy the argument and never have that Islam automatically makes you a backwards social conservative. We have plenty of evidence that happens entirely without Islam. Quote

Aye The phrase western values is bollocks and the idea that Islam are a threat to them Lots of western folk and regimes align with Islam when it comes to backwards non progressive views on the world and people Quote

Loads of folk love to say it is one religion that is the problem but forget our history and meddling in the east caused these problems. Quote

Guest Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 Saw a bit of question time - Rory Stewart is one of the few politicians who makes real sense these days. Says it how it is not how people would like it to be. No place for reality it seems. Quote

Lt. Aldo Raine Posted December 1, 2024 Posted December 1, 2024 I'm not sure I can agree he always tells it how it is rather than how people would like it to be given whate he said about his own his prediction in the presidential election Quote

Aldo Raine said: I'm not sure I can agree he always tells it how it is rather than how people would like it to be given whate he said about his own his prediction in the presidential election Sure. But I think that was allowable. I knew he was miles off with it. I think he knew too. Back in August he was basically saying Harris would be destroyed for all the reasons I thought she would. He got swept up in it I think when he went to DNC. But nobody is going to get everything right. What I like about him is that he’s prepared to say ‘nobody knows why this is happening’ rather than deciding that whatever cheap ideology he’s trying to peddle has the answer to why something is happening. Labour blame the Tories. The Tories blame minorities. Reform blame everyone who isn’t them. The cycle of political failure is in part because people aren’t prepared to properly examine the evidence. Rory is someone who does and will and put that above their own ideology. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted December 2, 2024 Posted December 2, 2024 Many politicians seem to be more plausible when no longer a politician. RS just the same. A smart fella, who struggled to play the game at the top table. Reminds me a touch of the characters in "first among equals". Quote
