The latter is available provided the person has made the required NI contributions, which might be fair enough, but regardless they are still benefits that can be claimed

But they won't have made the NI payments so a strange one to bring in.

I'm looking forward to the day a UK government tries to redefine migrants to the electorate. At the moment far too much is vague and vulnerable to insinuations by the Mail etc. 

Start with.... Yes we'll give visas but this subject to medicals, police checks. No benefits for x years, healthcare contribution, no tinpot degrees etc you get the gist. Residency and citizenship if you're good for x years. 

I've lived in 2 countries with higher migration than the UK (per capita) and people are far more accepting as they have faith in the criteria required to be satisfied to get the visa. A bit of resentment due to pressure on house prices perhaps but other than that. 

Also helps no newspapers that I know of demonise migrants mind.

No one has disputed the figures…it’s startling when we need immigrants here that work we are basically importing spongers…. If you move to Spain you have to show that you have the financial means to live there…. I just don’t understand how we let it happen.

I've not watched it to be honest, generally though he starts off reasonably well, then goes into overdrive and ends up making himself look utterly ridiculous. 

He recently was warbling on about how Brexit has been a great success.....but that it's also failed badly, so far, because of the Tory Party. Which seemed a bit of a mixed message.
