The best thing this or any government could do to increase prosperity is get a grip on energy costs

Energy costs are killing us

But the cult is getting its way. Demonise all fossil fuel use.

Extremism hitting you where it hurts. A more gradual and sensible change to so called 'green' energy is required. The farce of cutting off our own oil and gas supplies only to have to buy it from elsewhere is fucking madness.

Which is what we did with coal.  Never had you down as a fan of Scargill tbh.

You may know about big dumper trucks, but you clearly know fuck all about how energy prices work.

Sit this one out old man.

In fairness, some of the coal industry was loss making iirc.

Hardly a recipe for success.

Anyway, the point about cutting off our nose to spite our face is right.

Until the renewables set up is corrected, it is going to get pilloried.

Which gives more credence to the argument that we should stick with fossil fuels.

We need both to allow the transition to happen effectively, not ad hoc as seems to be the case.

So after a couple of weeks of massive fuck ups Keir Starmer turns round and asks Jim Ratcliffe to apologise for sharing his opinion. He’s got some fkin neck on him, I’ll give him that.

"Colonised" was perhaps a poor choice of wording, but the sentiment is felt by so many.

It was also as part of a wider interview, where apparently he spoke well.

There is some legitimacy to accusations of hypocrisy on his part, but that doesn't mean his point is incorrect. In particular he's from an area that is entirely different to how it was.

Starmer chipping in with "he should apologise" is another example of weakness. Like a primary school teacher trying to admonish a little kiddie.

More political elite wokerati.

Ratcliffe would have more (some) credibility if he paid his taxes and wasn’t exiled in Monaco.

Why would he pay taxes here if he’s “exiled in Monaco”

Some valid points but also the odd porkie:

Ratcliffe: The UK has been colonised by immigrants, really, hasn't it? I mean, the population of the UK was 58 million in 2020, now it's 70 million. That's 12 million people," he added.

ONS: The UK's population in mid-2025 was 69.4 million compared with 66.7 million in mid-2020.

Stop splitting hairs. He’s obviously on about the 9 million illegals 😆

think it's more the fact he's chosen to fuck off to somewhere so he doesn't have to pay, presumably, millions in tax into the UK coffers, then moans about the state of the UK and how it needs sorting out

which takes money

which he's proactively chosen not to put in

it's a bit rich, so to speak

Or maybe he’s already paid 100s of millions into the coffers only to see the country decline and thought fuck this, I’m not going to carry on paying in Billions, I’m off somewhere nice and sunny where I don’t have to pay fuck all. My company will continue to chip in though.

Had to drive through town yesterday to get to work at 3pm , i usually go over Scout Road then Beaumont road to the motorway at Hunger Hill,

Stuck in traffic next to Steaks on a plane at the bottom of Deane road, hundreds of kids and people milling about ,school chucking out time !

Not a single white male person ,man or boy amongst them.

I know a bloke who has had dealings with Ratcliffe.

By all accounts he’s a fucking rotter.

He’s a waste of space.

4 Billion plus of avoided tax. Widespread redundancies & mistreatment of workers.

And the ecological damage his petrochemical plant caused to the Firth of Forth should be something he faces charges for.

The damage he’s caused outways the good for me. I think his idea of business & economic growth doesn’t trickle down.

People are worried about changing demographics in their areas. Nothing wrong with expressing that. Personally I’m not as bothered if I don’t see a white person on my way to work, I’m more bothered by other issues. But I’m not criticising anyone who is bothered by the change. Folk should discuss it honestly without judgement.

Ratcliffe didn’t do that though. He used the word colonises which implies we’ve been invaded & are having our resources stolen.
Which just isn’t true. He also accuses all immigrants of doing this. The fckn idiot. You’d think he’d consider accepting it was a poor choice of words.

 Many will lap it up.

In which case he should be aware that he fucked off in 2018 post Brexit under the Tories and shouldn't really be moaning about what the job Starmer is doing because none of this started under his watch

It would also be helpful if he didn't in the same interview suggest the population has grown 12m since 2020 when it hasn't because it suggests he's starting from a very misinformed place and everything that follows is bollocks

Instead of demanding an apology KS should've just said *you're taking shite mate" but Comms has never been his strong point

Did he reference Starmer? He mentioned the last 5 years which I’m sure he was aware was both tories and Labour.

Yes, he specifically mentions him 20 seconds or so into that video which I assumed you'd watched
