  • My sarcasm was meant to imply that as a straight white male I've never felt demonised in my whole life.   I've never felt hard done to and I've never had any kind of agenda forced up on me personall

  • Oh it's complex alright.   There's folk think you're a cnut because you're white, and they're the 'anti racists', most of whom are also white.

They want sectioning; but so do those who think Trump actually stands for that shite.

Were they preaching to impose a new legal system and overthrow the current political system?

not really sure thats relevant in the context of boltys comments and tomskis question

"Would you agree on Abu Hamza waffling bollocks as well as his absolute right?"

If he is spouting religious, social or other such hatred openly then, imo, he doesn't have the right.

I asked the question as I'm not sure what it was they were preaching . . .

You really couldn't see the relevance?   Or perhaps think I shouldn't have a say as I wasn't directly asked . . . rofl

Would you agree on Abu Hamza waffling bollocks as well as his absolute right? I agree with Zico. It's not on white/Brown or whoever does it

Much as it pains me, yes. But not in the UK. He can go waffle his bollocks to his hearts content in some sandy middle eastern shithole where he belongs.

Much as it pains me, yes.

fair enough

think you are wrong though :)

Even John McCain thinks Trump is going about things all wrong.

Take a look at @SenJohnMcCain's Tweet: https://twitter.com/SenJohnMcCain/status/897624579589451778?s=09

There's no moral equivalency between racists & Americans standing up to defy hate& bigotry. The President of the United States should say so

Edited by frank_spencer

The world went to war with democratically elected nazi's because of their warped and fucked up ideology

I won't defend their right to do anything

What was it you were saying about learning from history and nipping things in the bud?

You do have a way of making things more convoluted.

There is a difference between freedom of speech and organising a beer hall putsch, Kristallnacht and various other politically expedient vile acts seeking to foment revolution.

None of us on here would support Nazism in any way (at least I don't think so). If, however, a bloke holds those views and wants to spout them at Speakers Corner, the old "I may not like what you say but would defend to the death your right to say it" imperative would have to kick in. No doubt he would be jeered and ridiculed and rightly so. Surely anyone wanting to 'smash his face in' because they disliked his views (like Feisty Frank or those despicable Antifa lowlifes) would be behaving like a Nazi wouldn't they?

We obviously all have different levels of democratic principles.

i await the wriggle to get out of that one, with great interest

No wriggle necessary. I answered this question before reading your erudite and compelling input.

I wouldn't give a flying fuck what he spouted in some godforsaken dust bowl in the Middle East. He can spout himself to death over there for all I care.

fair enough

...and, as a true democrat, I completely accept your right to have differing views to mine.

Good isn't it? We could be on to something here y'know.

Yup, absolute crackpots pal. That oldish lady who phoned in and explained what it was they were trying to defend got me.

not convoluted at all

hatemongering like this should not be tolerated, nazism should be outlawed, zero concessions - we've seen what it does to the world

you make it convoluted by on the one hand saying it should be outlawed and don't think they should be treated without impunity, but on the other hand saying they have the right to do this and you'll defend their right to do it

just last week you were saying we should bomb north korea based on the lessons learnt by letting hitler crack on with his rhetoric and not sorting it out early doors, but now you begrudgingly think these guys should be allowed to crack on and not expect retaliation?

Just to be crystal clear - I loathe Nazis.

However, the left keep pushing an agenda based on identity politics; that even the most hardened lefty must at least acknowledge tends to demonise one particular group - white straight males.

I dislike identity politics on many levels but it is surely totally brainless to push such an agenda when the majority racial group in a democracy happen to be white and, apparently, all the (straight?) males have all the power . . .

Thanks for clearing that up.

I've read this thread from start to here and now people have to make it clear they loathe Nazis....jesus christ

Im just sick of feeling demonised by lefty bastards with an agenda.

I know, right . . .

Im just sick of feeling demonised by lefty bastards with an agenda.

:D  come on gonzo, you must at least concede that an action has a reaction.

The bigger picture here is all about left v right.  Each demonises the other but the current 'right way of thinking' is very much the left side; which is ironic given their view of bigotry and fascism in general.

It's not personal by any means; but my general feelings on the whole situation.

You can make puerile, sarcy comments or discuss the issues reasonably with me.   I know what the 'lefty types' seem to like doing the most . . .

My sarcasm was meant to imply that as a straight white male I've never felt demonised in my whole life.

I've never felt hard done to and I've never had any kind of agenda forced up on me personally by the left.

There's left leaning policies in life that I don't agree with and I'm completely against. But have they affected my life in any way? No they haven't.

This stuff in the US was about neo nazis and the kkk holding a protest about a statue being turned down. No forced agendas and right vs left. It was the kkk. They were there for a boot off and they got one. Antifa were always going to show up and they knew this. One of them was fucking murdered for christs sake.

You and many others have a really bizarre knack of over thinking things and wrapping yourselves up in some kind of mad paranoid vortex and can't help but jump straight on the defensive when it comes to any form of racial debate.

The whole world isn't against white males. Nor is left leaning politics viewed as the correct way to think, hence the most right leaning president of the us in living memory, and brexit and the likes in this country.

You carry on waffling yourself into a spin of paranoia whilst the rest of world can think what's gone on In the us is a disgrace and the fact nazi's and the kkk are back marching on the streets is terrifying.

You can say that and lean whichever way in politics you feel fit.

Agenda my arse.

Isn't it a case of the left demonising white straight males who just happen to also be racist fucks?

Fake news

That Viceland channel has out some fantastic programs since it launch.

It's had me watching shows on stuff I probably wouldn't have been interested in on other channels.

Hate thy neighbour has been a cracking watch and shows the level of racism around the world.

Some fair points.

For me this issue is about three things.

1.  The removal of the statue - which I don't agree with

2.  Freedom of speech.  So long as you don't 'cross the line' you should have that right.  The right had a permit, antifa didn't.  I honestly don't know if the march was hijacked or if it was always meant to be a nazi/white supremacist rally - if the latter then, fair enough shut it down; but let the law do it . . .

3.  Right v left.  History shows us any extreme view that forces its ideals on people results in human tragedy.  However, see no. 2

Re. the racist stuff, see my post on politicising race.   How anyone can see the good in such policies is beyond me, well intentioned or otherwise
