Tel
I got told a story yesterday regarding the the selection of Armstrong before Alf. According to my mate if Armstrong doesn't play then we have to pay his wages but if he plays then Newcastle pay his wages.
bolton va va
Another issue with Alf is he isn’t going to come on and skin 3 people. He’s hardly going to stretch teams  If we aren’t creating clear chances in the first place then bringing Alf on isn’t going to change that. Aye......Alf can only play in a 2 up front ( he's no target man & can't play out wide ) & when we play with 2 up front, our midfield & then our defence are overrun, & we get clobbered like we did in the early season games.  Now that we have found a system that has at least made us competitive, we have people calling for a return to the 2 upfront that failed miserably.  It's hard to see any role for Alf ( unless we have an epidemic of injuries ) except as a late shit or bust sub when we're losing. Aye I'm not asking for him to start but there is such a thing as in-game management. Â Suppose the manager was protecting the point yesterday but it'd have done no harm to go two up top earlier. Wasnt there so I dont know how the game was panning out but by all accounts QPR were well on top leading to the equaliser. If Armstrong was that poor then putting on ALF early would have given them a few more things to think about like you suggest.

captainmed
I watched the dwarf Armstrong closely at Villa. Â He contributed nothing and how he stayed on all match I will never know. Â JSL.

radcliffe white
Tbf to Armstrong his record isn’t too bad before coming to us  He’s always played in a front two so he will struggle where he’s currently positioned

Maybe so, but last week against Sheff Wed, Noone & Morais were very good when they came on as subs so it made sense to make the same changes this week. Trouble is, they were both pisspoor yesterday. ( tbf i think they both struggled with the conditions....when they came on the ball was hardly rolling on the surface )
Mounts Kipper
The clearance from noone that lead to the QPR goal was nothing short of pathetic. ????

Site Supporter victor meldrew Posted October 22, 2017 Site Supporter Share Posted October 22, 2017 (edited) it doesn't matter who plays or what formation we have. Â we are too deep and don't create anywhere near enough chances to score. Â no change in what will happen , until we get another manager. It only works for so long. Even more so when you concede.
paulhanley
Parkinson deserves huge credit for last season and has had his work cut out due to the transfer embargo - that's stating the obvious. However it is increasingly hard to avoid concluding that we're playing a brand of football that belongs to years gone by. Slick Championship sides play around us and keep the ball so much better. At least with the advent of Karl Henry they aren't playing straight through us any longer.  Still hard to see any outcome other than relegation. We effectively have to win 14 of our last 33 games. We've won six at this level in the last 59 we've played. The only recipe I can see is to get through Xmas with a gap of no more than 5 points between us and 4th bottom, strengthen in the January window, and then at some point rattle off four or five straight wins and make it a scrap to the bitter end during the Spring. Blondi
We're still going down this season, but it shouldn't be as embarrassing as most of us thought it would be a couple of weeks back.
kent_white
I thought he made some big saves but I also thought he fucked up for their goal. His reaction immediately after seemed to confirm this. I thought he should have got in front of the big number 40 before he had the chance to do anything with the cross. I've not seen the highlights yet to be fair

enzo gambaro
Why do we sit offf soooo much, 35% possession at home to QPR is shocking.Liverpool will be chuffed with their 64% possession at Spurs this afternoon.
