Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted January 10, 2018 Site Supporter Posted January 10, 2018 Altrincham grammar school for girls has banned the use of the word "girl" when referring to its pupils. The lad's section hasn't done the same with "boys". Meanwhile the army is not about being the best. But it doesn't matter, as when bombs and bullets are flying round your head, there'll be someone to listen to your problems and concerns. Quote

Damned if you do, damned if . . . . with this one. My guess is whoever took the photos (or planned the outfits) made no connection whatsoever. As is right. I see that image as a positive step i.e. there's nothing to see here . . . Shame some folk can't get past it. Edited January 10, 2018 by madthatter Quote

frank_spencer Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Even as one of the woolliest lefties on here I can't see the outrage around that H&M advert that has even LeBron James on his high horse. Badly thought through and surprised no one spotted the potential for upset. But out and out racist, not for me Quote
madthatter Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Badly thought through and surprised no one spotted the potential for upset. But out and out racist, not for me But imagine if at the shoot, while his parents are there, some white head says 'He can't wear that!' 'And why is that?' says his Dad . . . get out of that one, Rommel Damned if they did, damned if they didn't. It's bollocks. Quote
kent_white Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 I think you'd be surprised how many wooly lefties agree with you. I'm all for the fairer redistribution of wealth - but you'd be hard pressed to guess the rest of my opinions based on that one particular fact alone. Quote

If a white kid was wearing it then no problem. They want more BME folk involved with every day life; but its got to be on a selective basis? My lad had a cheeky monkey t shirt when he was little, so why can't a black kid where one? Its only an issue if you choose it to be so. Quote

Whites man Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Liberal guilt, true story; there's a black bloke in the office, one day at home I had some bananas that were going off so I took them in to work. I passed a few round and when the black guy walked passed I asked if he wanted a banana and felt uneasy about it to be honest. Quote
birch-chorley Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 I see the FA will now have to interview someone who is from an ethnic minority for every position Madness They say the % of black coaches is much smaller than the % of black players like it’s a conspiracy. I’d bet you would struggle to find a chairman in the country that wouldn’t interview someone because they are black. They all (or the vast majority) want the best man for the job I’d love to know what % of black players go on to do their coaching badges vs the % of white players that go on to do them, I believe that would give you the answer Quote

Not in Crawley Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 Pedant alert. Two completely separate schools with chuff all to do with each other apart from being in the same town. Kind of. Kent just made me aware of this little kick off. My eldest is going to an all girl grammar school, there is a boys division; at A Level they are taught together. It’s a non issue just to get people who like to get upset at things that don’t impact on their lives. As a left leaning centrist who is generally against single sex education...ah, my eldest worked hard she gets to choose where she goes! Quote
Moderators Zico Posted January 10, 2018 Moderators Posted January 10, 2018 Seen a tweet (or a screen grab of a tweet), by the kids mother who had no issue with it and said stop crying wolf That should be the end of it Loads of people are upset by it, loads aren't, that's just the way it is Someone at h&m should have seen this coming though, just in the same way most of us would've guffawed or gone "Fuckin ell" and showed it someone else had we just come across it whilst casually browsing the h&m website Quote

Not in Crawley Posted January 10, 2018 Posted January 10, 2018 No, they are linked (not the same as my daughter’s school admittedly) but it’s not like two state schools in a town borough. To equate is disingenuous. Quote
