They've backed players to do whatever gesture they see fit. What 'story' do you think it tells?

We support the players in whatever they decide, but we want to make sure that going forward, irrespective of taking the knee, that we are still talking about racism, we are talking about reasons why players had to take the knee, because those issues haven’t gone away,” he told the PA news agency.

Quite obviously the players don’t see a point in doing it hence the majority of clubs knocking it on the head. I’m surprised the police, KIO, anti racism campaigners etc haven’t been pleading with them to carry on (it is only 3 seconds after all) after it’s roaring success and rise in racism (which some are seeing as part of its success)

Has racism “risen”, or has the level of it only now come to light since it’s under scrutiny?

Yep, it’s a good job Footballers taking the knee has made fans brave and given them the courage to report racism. (Weirdly enough when asked on here if you would report racism the only person who answered said he wouldn’t)

The verdict is in but the results are mixed. Let’s start with the positives first. Kick It Out reports a 13 per cent decrease in PL racial abuse and a 38 per cent fall in reports on social media. However, this is where the positives stop. Grassroots football saw a 41 per cent rise in racism cases with a further 14 per cent rise reported in EFL.

Interestingly, where you find less taking of the knee (in grassroots and EFL), there is a corresponding growth in racial abuse reports. On the other hand, where you find more kneeling (in the PL), you find declining reports. Statistics should never be taken at face value, but preliminary conclusions can certainly be drawn on the impact of taking the knee on racist behaviour. On the surface, at least, it seems that the gesture has been beneficial in helping to stimy racism

Is that the KIO campaign who use only stats reported directly to them?

Only because I would take more pleasure in telling them to fuck the fuck off.

PFA reports, police reports etc. the KIO reports are people who have reported directly to them. (Not sure what happens after that and if the police get involved or not. I doubt they will)

Are KIO not allowed to look at that data?

Campaigners believe topical issues which have been in the national spotlight, such as Black Lives Matter protests and players taking the knee at games to highlight racial and social injustices, may have contributed to the rise in abuse from the stands.

This is After an explosion of racism offences in the West Midlands.

Now what would make them think that?

Wrong question, they have done massive data research, its really robust, which is why is not right or wrong. Like any findings.

It's but but but RW who loves anecdotal evidence and less like those horrible truth telling numbers.

Those numbers from KIO are from people who have reported to them only. Not to the police. Basically it’s like that knob we had on here who said he would report people booing the knee to the police. When it came to it he wasn’t brave enough (though kneeling was meant to make fans braver) he might have gone home and sent a letter to KIO or reported it on the app instead.
