Please - Not On Our Manor

After hopefully securing our place in the Championship in the coming weeks , the fixture list has very unkindly thrown up the distinct possibility that we might witness scenes on our ground that will bring back for the older heads amongst us memories that we would rather leave to gather dust.

Looking at the promotion run in there is the real possibility that with 3 games to go Wolves could roll up at the Macron  and win the league that day , and we will be expected to "witness"  such an event .

I don't normally mind when we play host to significant moments in the football calendar -  I really enjoyed being there when Chelsea won the league title at the Reebok with the the Worlds media looking on  , I was genuinely saddened at the time to see a club of Leeds stature relegated , and I actually  quite enjoyed watching Birmingham surviving with the last kick of the season

But this is an altogether different prospect

When back in 1977 we met in the next to last game of the season they arrived at Burnden already as Champions, that at the time did not bother me , but their win that day that ensured we missed out on promotion and the way their fans took  liberties on and off the pitch left me with an intense hatred of that club that has remained to this day and is  only matched by my hatred for Everton who beat us in the league cup semi final 3 months earlier .

So what's the best thing to Do ?  Stay at home ?

Am sure many on here will understand

we've pissed off wolves more than they've pissed us off, that's for sure

one memory is as a naive 17 year old in the general havelock before the play off semi

me and my mate wanted a game of pool and there was about 10 of them round the pool table, they insisted on winner stays on and that we played £5 a man, we agreed but had no cash on us thinking it'd be reet either way, friendly banter

they were on the black and we had 6 balls left, and it got a bit like "you better pay up lads, or you're getting twatted"

my mate then cleared up and saved us from an awkward situation

they didn't pay up, and it kicked off outside so they all fucked off and left us to it, but never paid up for us winning

cunts

I'd hate to see them living it up at our place but so long as we're more or less safe by then, meh.

In 10 years time are they likely to be a wealthy, established premier league side? More likely they'll be in division 3 or 4, bankrupt, reformed as AFC Wolfs, with a 101 year old Sammy Chung in charge.

Let em have their fun and be safe in the knowledge it won't last

I'll never forget that day in 1977 when they brought thousands to Burnden - many of them not in the party mood.

At the final whistle they flooded onto the pitch then came over to the Lever End for trouble - the first couple of dozen that made it over the fence + into the Lever End got a right kicking.

Then the Police seemed to get a grip to prevent further trouble in the ground.

That day wasn't a pleasant end of season atmosphere at all and it was booting off before and after the game up and down Manny Rd.

Hated them ever since.

I work with a few of them

They fucking hate us nearly as much they do West Brom.

They'd prefer to win the league at our place for definite.

Hopefully the team can get it done and dusted but in any event it's going to be a royal pain in the arse.

Never forget that feeling.

I started off on the Embankment.

It all kicked off , shear numbers meant we went across to the Lever End.

Its etched on my eye balls them celebrating at full time.

Knowing we had to spend yet another season in the 2nd division.

There have been bad moments being a white but that is right up there as one of the most horrible days; was in the Burnden Paddock that day and we were just hoping the wolves lot come over our fence - they would have died.

Another bad day was when the Baggies pipped us; whites were away at Charlton and baggies at Owdum. Loads went to Oldham and half way through the second half news from our game was we were 3-0 up only for the baggies to get their winner late on; not as bad as Wolves but pissed off just the same.

Won't be the first time some fuckers have had a party in our ground and it won't be the last.

They'll be all over our end too if there's summet deffo on it.

Their owners are worth £50 billion so it's probably the last time we will see them for a while.

Winning it at ours is a fairytale for any wolves fan over 30.

Well why didnt you come over that fence , we were getting a proper kicking in the Embankment ,which is why we jumped ship to the Lever end
