April 24, 20188 yr I see what the last few posts are saying, it probably won't be much better next season if we do stay up but surely by staying up it's the only way we can attract a buyer who can take us forward, who knows what the summer will bring. We need to be in the Championship for me Yeah I get that. I want us to stay up. But I can't get too worked up about the prospect of another year of this. Probably worse as the division will likely be stronger than it is now. I guess its just different to past struggles where we knew there was a real prospect of progression if we could get across the line. For me there was hope last season after promotion that Ken would find an investor and we'd establish ourselves lower middle table before kicking on over the next few years. However, that didn't happen and there is no real sign it is happening this summer either. Loads of clubs are up for sale, I note Sunderland have two serious consortiums interested. Apart from wild rumour nothing has happened that side for us in a long time. Indeed when Eddie was selling for £1 only Ken and Dean wanted it, and whilst the debts have been rationalised since then, the income is lower. If we scrape survival we'll still have to cut costs to break even next season. Even then we probably need to sell someone to cover losses. If the only real hope is a white knight riding in during the summer to let us compete then I find it hard to be that worked up about survival, beyond the fact clearly financially we need to stop up. But as a fan, staying up as it currently stands, probably means an even worse season next time round. Hard to be excited by that prospect. Though I certainly prefer that to the alternative. Feels like being asked do you want a finger removed or a papercut? Obviously a papercut but I'm not giddy for one.....
April 24, 20188 yr I agree with the sentiments of the last few posts, next season is likely to be difficult either way. The best hope of shortish term improvement will be if investment comes in & I'd guess that there is more chance of that if we stay up. Otherwise it's going to be a long drag & we will probably be dependent on bringing through a decent number of our own players....at least our U23 & U18 teams seem to be doing well, even though that has never been a guarantee of them progressing into 1st team standard.

April 24, 20188 yr Author I’d suggest if we are to attract investment we need to be in this division next season with an extra £5 million in the bank and some bills paid. Last season was great but the novelty would soon ware off. Plus the board made miracles with their dealings. Only so many times they can pull that off. If we go, we’re gone for a while imo.
April 24, 20188 yr I'm with the last 2 posts. Would rather stay up than not if only from a money point of view for the club. The football will be just as bad or worse next season without investment in the championship. we would win a few more in league 1. I personally want to see BWFC win games of football - I would be happier beating Accrington than losing to Derby next season. Not the end of the world if we do get sunk I agree winning games is a good thing, whatever league it is, but I probably got as big a Buzz from recent draws at Barnsley, sheff wed and v Fulham as some of those routine wins against small clubs last season. Also if we go down its Madine back on loan to partner vela and we lose ameobi again,

At this stage of the season nobody would be surprised if Barnsley won, to virtually relegate us. Small margins can make a massive difference, fingers crossed for a dodgy pen or offside goal for forest.

You may be right...taking form out of the equation I just meant its an element of luck that Barnsley have an extra game against a team no longer fighting for points. In comparison it would have been nice if our games v Ipswich or QPR for eg had been postponed until tonight. Not saying we, or Barnsley, would win but it wouldn't do any harm especially if players are rested. Come on you reds.
