L/H White Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 (edited) *Turin ffs Just stuck it on, 20 minutes in and I'm hooked Love all the old footage of the hooligans, training footage and music Imagine plenty have already seen it If you haven't, it's worth a watch https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1626175/ Edited June 9, 2018 by L/H White
Marc505 Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 You NEED to read the book! Originally titled “All Played Out”. Proper fascinating. As for the documentary, when The Farm “”All Together Now” comes in at the end during the bus parade and that cricket match comes to a halt to salute them... emotional!
Marc505 Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Saluting coming 4th. How very English. And Welsh ????

jayjayoghani Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Very good insight into the 98 world cup. Sounds very much like if Hoddle wasn't such an arse with players, he'd be an outstanding coach. https://asia.eurosport.com/football/world-cup/2018/the-hod-complex-england-and-the-1998-world-cup_sto6795833/story.shtml
frank_spencer Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 Every time this gets mentioned I end up with this song in my head
jayjayoghani Posted June 9, 2018 Posted June 9, 2018 That's played on the radio here all the time for some reason. Never knew it was written by ABBA, or the fellas anyway

Marc505 Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 Second that, very good article I read that yesterday too, love a long read about World Cups. Some really interesting nuggets about Hoddle in there I never knew he ended up living with Eileen Drewery

Marc505 Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 You read steaming in by Colin ward Marc? I *think* so, ages ago though now. It’s based mainly on 70s/80s isn’t it?
Marc505 Posted June 10, 2018 Posted June 10, 2018 Just got to a chapter about that 1990 semi final in”World In Motion”, can’t believe England’s ticket allocation was less than 1,000 in a 67,000 stadium. Interesting to read that away from the huge legend that match has turned into, it was actually carnage around the ground and Turin for days before it
Duck Egg Posted June 18, 2018 Posted June 18, 2018 You NEED to read the book! Originally titled “All Played Out”. Proper fascinating. A must read for anyone who doubts what absolute scum we have for press in this country (or did)

I've just looked on Amazon for it, £65. wtf
bolton va va Posted June 19, 2018 Posted June 19, 2018 . Interesting to read that away from the huge legend that match has turned into, it was actually carnage around the ground and Turin for days before it Amongst all the trouble between English & Italians in Turin, the story ( very reliably ) is that Barney & a cockney munich had a big bust up, so they all went off into a big Italian square/ courtyard where several hundred England fans formed a circle & the two of them knocked hell out of each other in the middle......much to the amazement of the Italians who were watching from further away.
