gonzo
Deserves its own thread surely... Really happy with this. Only sentiment wanted Nolan but this makes perfect sense. Let’s get behind the bloke 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Traf
Yep, experienced manager, works well with his assistant. Bolton born and bred, will understand what the club means to the town. Very good appointment IMO.
Jol_BWFC
Garrp was doing cartwheels at the pub in Gillingham this evening when he heard the news. Edited August 31, 2019 by Jol_BWFC
Hutch
Good appointment The Bolton job isn’t for someone with a lack of experience
PGen98
Love that it's someone who knows Bolton and understand what the club means, and the level of experience is a bonus, too. A very solid appointment, looking forward to seeing how how he does moving forward!

Morizio
I’ve never met him but someone I trust knows him and says he’s a good bloke. Local feller as well. Good appointment.
barrycowdrill
With the new owners, Hill placed in charge and a raft of new signings in the horizon, for the first time in a good few years I’m excited about the future and where it leads us there’ll still be dark (maybe darker) days ahead but I gave up caring long ago about what division we are in. There is definitely life outside the PL and championship always seen positive views on Hill and how he goes about things so looking forward to what he and his team will give us over however long his contract is for definitely right man at the right time
Site Supporter Good Knee Posted September 1, 2019 Site Supporter Share Posted September 1, 2019 He's a good bloke when he started doing his badges he coached my lads team about 20 years ago ,although I did suggest him for the job some time ago I got a bit of a rebuke because apparently he's a bit of a punky. Blondi
IMO hiring Hill is a real coup for us, but also getting Flitcroft in as his no2 is impressive too, Flitcroft has a 40% win percentage in his managerial career and both of these two know the lower leagues better than anyone. RoadRunnerFan
Good appointment, good bloke. Used to drink in the same pub as him, though it was a good few years back. Track record of working with young players, limited budgets and plays decent football. Very experienced in this division and got Dale out of L2 twice. So ticks boxes for this season and whichever division we are in next season.
kent_white
Been surprised how negatively this news has been taken by the usual twats on FB. Bit worried that he's not going to get long before the abuse starts if he doesn't get off to a flyer. Good appointment for me.

Surprised how positively it’s gone down given Nolan was clearly the fan favourite. Twitter full of positivity this morning.

Mounts Kipper
Mates lad was at Rochdale as apprentice under Hill, said he’s good bloke, knows his football, loads of experience at this level and of working with low budget, agree with Blondi about flitcroft, we’ve 2 lads capable of managing us so it’s a good partnership for me. Members Rudy
Solid and sensible appointment. Would’ve have been happy with Nolan or Hill. I do wonder how long he has known for and has he a list of players he wants to bring in asap
ErnestTurnip
It'll be interesting to see how the dynamic works out between them, Flitcroft is a manager in his own right with a good number of games under his belt and even though we are a bigger club than either of them have been near before he is still stepping down to be a number 2. Farrelli
Good appointment IMO. Experienced, works well on a limited budget and knows the lower leagues. Best of luck to our new management team!

This isn't a reflection on Flitcroft but a general point, managerial win percentages are effectively meaningless as a metric without context. But according to Rochdale supporters, Hill was at his best for them when he had Flitcroft alongside him, so it stands us in good stead that he's joined as well. Traf
Most of the FB neg-heads never go to the match anyway. The "not going whilst xyz is here mob" as it's known, prefer to spend match day watching it in the pub or on IPTV whilst moaning about our financial plight.
