Would think more than 2/3 years at this level could see us vacate the stadium. Using the saving from the academy, that isn’t value for money and is a bit of a waste of time. Let them do that and we sign them when they get released

I do not think this news as a football decision is great but from a business perspective pretty inevitable. The future of the lads who turned out start of the season must be in doubt and that is really shit.

Ruba Mustafa
37 minutes ago, peelyfeet said: it means less hours coaching, less coaches per player ratio. It means the academy will be playing other CAT 3 teams instead of CAT 1 and 2 - so instead of playing Liverpool, Everton, City, United, Burnley Wigan we play Morecambe, Rochdale, Oldham, PNE, Fleetwood, Shrewsbury etc It also means we don’t need the big tent indoor pitch, probably been sold to Fleetwood :(

Moderators Horwich Posted March 3, 2020 Moderators Share Posted March 3, 2020 So instead of getting beat by Burnley or wigan, we get beat by Oldham or Fleetwood.

Ruba Mustafa
IMO it’s nothing to be too concerned about, will make little difference at first team level but the savings to be made must be important enough to swing the decision. We can always move up again when we win the lottery.

DomRepWanderer
The Preston model seems to be working just fine, and all well and good if we're following that model.

snowball
1 hour ago, Anderson said: And there we have what we call small time mentality. Worrying for me. Was suggested on here ages ago by folk who know their onions that this could be way forward. City/ Utd/Liverpool (Blackburn at one time who scooped up the captain of the Bolton Town Team a certain Keith Hill not to mention Gary Flitcroft, Jason Wilcox etc) will always get best local talent. Lots of good young players wont make it so lets be scouting them and become known for giving them a first team chance when they are chewed up and spat out by the billionaires Small time or realistic and ultimately (,given 'success' of our academy) more productive on and off the pitch? Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 3, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted March 3, 2020 How does all this hemmings money fit in with ffp? If plenty are doing it, then ffp doesn't seem to be fit for purpose. Not particularly arsed, if Preston have a good backer then good luck to them, though it just increases to possibility of another club facing problems at some stage.
