Okocha10 Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 The amount of journalist who hoped that the EFL put more misery on us is outstanding. Just show's how shit they are these days because nearly all of them have not done any research on this & jumped on the bandwagon. Quote
enzo gambaro Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Andy Holt is going to get a lot of shit tomorrow but I don’t think he should. His target has never been us (or Bury), he’s just used us to illustrate the issues he has with the way the game is governed. Folk need to remember that he’s charged us twenty quid a chuck and made the effort to find us additional tickets once we’d sold out our allocation. I’d go so far as to say we’re on the same side. Andy's a decent bloke at heart. Many Bolton fans have misconstrued what he's saying. His beef is actually with the EFL and he's actually right in saying that we shouldn't have been allowed to start the season. We should have been allowed 5 games postponed, before a final decision was made, just like Bury. Had that happened, we'd be in a better position right now. Quote

Postponing games would have incurred penalty. And everyone believed takeover was a signature away - and 3 days before season started every party gave assurances it would be done. That's the issue - first game went ahead because everyone believed Ken would sign. Then he didn't. In hindsight its easy to say we shouldn't have started, but imagine if league had taken that view and FV walked because of the penalty against club? Quote
bwfcfan5 Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 EFL are appealing the decision as they feel it is too lenient. Quote
gregbwfc Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 (edited) Thought they would. Twats may have played a blinder here. Get someone else to make the decision and then appeal cos of a load of clubs kicking off. Fuck em ,if we do lose points, it should just harden the club's resolve. You know there was talk of a delay of weeks yesterday - would it not seem likely that EFL received decision - decided they didn't like it and were going to appeal and withhold publication of decision till appeal held? But then it leaked and they had no choice.... Quote

I do wonder if the plan is to be pretty lenient in the end but do it by being very lenient to start with then bung in a 3 point penalty and more of a fine on the appeal. That way we still get off fairly lightly, the season won't be crucified but also they can pretend to be hard cases and be seen to punish. As for Doncaster - yes fans can be miffed it was off if they had sorted the day out - but no more so than us ending up trooping round Lincoln in the rain (and some of the London lot who came up for that spent a small fortune on trains). Their club might be unhappy with how it was handled if reports at the time are true - but they should get costs back (from the fine, I don't know or maybe we have done it already?). EFL need to define what constitutes a reason to postpone now and use all this to draw a line in that sand (and as I say, even if they did knock the penalty up to 3 points for us then that's not the end of the world). But if the main gripe of their fans is that they missed out on a new club record away win then tough. Quote
kent_white Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Beyond a joke this Just make a fucking decision and have done with it. All this pissing about does nobody any favours. The EFL really are a shambles of an organisation. Quote

Leyther_Matt Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 I see it as the EFL trying to save face with the clubs that are moaning and in reality there aren't any grounds for appeal given the decision was made independently. Quote

waffer cup 07 Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Surely the appeal to the decision is there for BWFC to appeal, not the EFL. Quote
bwfcfan5 Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Right - things I'd like to know are - what is grounds for appeal? Both EFL and club made their case to the panel (that EFL appointed) and panel made decision. Unless the panel made an error in reviewing the information OR new information is now available - what grounds do the EFL actually have? Not liking a decision is not enough. Quote
bwfcfan5 Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Just now, waffer cup 07 said: Surely the appeal to the decision is there for BWFC to appeal, not the EFL. Well its basically like this - the EFL appoint an independent panel who in effect take the case from the EFL and Bolton and decide. So both sides will have right to appeal but I'd like to know on what grounds the EFL are using...they have presumably made their case already based on integrity of the league and panel made decision. enzo gambaro Posted November 22, 2019 Posted November 22, 2019 Can the EFL be fined for a frivolous appeal? Quote
