Shrews at home 29 Dec

Burndens Bogs

They started well. After the injury we had a centre half at centre half and a left back at left and we got on top.

Darcy first half as good as I have seen him. Earl excellent throughout.

Lowe was stupid. Ref afterwards seemed to decide bookings for pulling players back are no longer required. D Murphy could not be fouled.

Ends up being a good point.

Re the incident in West Stand the chap shouting at Lowe did go over the top, but the 3 guys who were sitting next to me were unbelievably aggressive. I am surprised the stewards didn't come in earlier. At the end they were still threatening the guy at the back. They were a disgrace.

A well balanced game up to the sending off but after that we were just hanging on for a point. Fair enough, & there was some committed defending & Matthews was top class......from NSL the double save looked outstanding.

A bit surprised that Verlinden was taken off , i thought his pace would have given us an outlet & Shrews something to worry about, but we hung on.

Happy with a point.

One of the big gripes for me with refs outside the Prem is constant grappling of the centre forward by his markers seems to be accepted by refs as ok and goes unpunished all game every game, yet as soon as the striker decides to fight fire with fire a bit they spot it and pull them up for it straightaway. Murphy really got the rough end of it today

Yep.

When I spoke to them afterwards, they felt they'd done nowt wrong, which perhaps says a lot.

They had had some ale which perhaps didn't help.

I have a feeling they may be getting a letter or some sort of communication if they're season ticket holders.

My gripe with Verlinden was his tracking back. Granted he's got the ability on the ball but his defensive awareness leaves a lot to be desired. For a 5-10 minute spell before he went off, everything was coming down that left hand side.

its better than what we have had.  At least we are competing, no pressure and you can go and enjoy games

This season's nothing like as joyless as last season or the one when we went down the time before that. Even the one when we stayed up on last day was largely grim watching.

There's a fair bit to take enjoyment from at the moment, not least seeing young lads like Darcy express themselves as he did today

Would suspect that was exactly why he was taken off, although Graham didn’t exactly seem the logical choice at that point considering O’Grady was sat on the bench.

At one point in first half he ran back, straight past his man by about 5 metres who just stood in the space.

Not seen them before and hope they don’t venture again or one or two of us may have summat to say..

One tried having ‘a chat’ with me at the end, suggesting I may be on the same page as him. Fucked him right off.
three of them taking the piss out of the guy next to me because he was with his mum so wouldn’t ‘take it outside’! She’s in her 80s with dementia and he brings her to every game. Fucking JCL part time wankers on the piss 😡

Really enjoyed it today. Showed fight and courage. Times past we captiualte and lose that 5-1.

Its not perfect, but we are a good run away from making at least interesting. Pull a Morias/Henry situation out of the bag in jan and it’s on.

Let’s not we should’ve been 3 up at half time. 3 free headers amongst other chances and a shit load of corners.

We arent far away.

He wanted to get Darcy out of centre mid and onto the left because he’s far better at tracking back and helping the full back out.

Verlinden was good but with 20 mins left and only 10 men he was becoming a liability and just kept leaving Chicksen 2 on 1. Darcy is getting better and better every game, very impressed with how he coped when we went down to 10 men

Know who you are now!

We sit on the other side of the old lady. They've been there since the ground opened. Used to come with her husband too, bit I think he's no longer with us.

The two of them were looked after by stewards afterwards, I saw them being taken somewhere through some doors.

Wasn't an edifying incident, but as you say they weren't for letting it go afterwards.

Lad with his mum did suggest he'd batter one of them when they first kicked off which really shocked me as he's so placid, as you say though, looking to take it outside and calling him for hiding behind his mum was frankly pathetic.

Anyhow, fuck em.

Anyway, they're a good team and I made them on top all game, but we should've been 3 up at half time

Their Bolton born number 8 was a class apart

Darcy our motm

No Bridcutt and Lowe for at least the next three fills me with dread

Agreed, he ran the 2nd half.  But looking at his CV, what a mystery, he's 27 and last season was the first time he's played as high as Div 1, he's been non league at Guiseley, Macc and Tranmere for a few years after not being upto the grade in Div 2 for Plymouth and Bristol Rovers.  Thinking of some of the no marks we've had here in the last 5 or so years, just suggests bad judgement and lazy recruitment.

Likewise, can identify you now.

He did say he’d knock him out initially but that was because he’d told the balloon to sit down and shut up (like many of us had), but the balloon had then tried to get over the young girl in the row between them both to get at him. One of the three was half heartedly trying to diffuse it but the other two bellends wouldn’t leave it.
Orange warriors didn’t even speak to the instigator when they first came up...

Playing with a real defence has to be an improvement, as seen today after Bridcutt went off.  I'm his biggest fan but Hill has managed to turn him into a liability so that's its a bonus when he's injured.  I like Lowe too but he's been poor recently, we wont miss either in the short term, until Hill comes to his senses on Bridcutt's best position.

You're right there. I spoke to the orange lady because she'd selected one who wasn't trying to get over the seat with the little girl in. Wrong one!

Not sure they'll be back soon anyway; they didn't get much sympathy.
