What does unofficially shielding mean?

Not on the official list perhaps?

One of wife's guys isn't on it, but he's had heart issues and the British Heart Foundation has said he most certainly should be isolating for the 12 weeks.

A lot of common sense required, as it's going to be high on impossible to cover everyone in a list.

You would be surprised who is on the list

Though it does change daily

But, anyway

I know a few on here have volunteered

You shouldnt be surprised if you havent had any tasks through

Beginning of this week, there were 2 in bound lines to ask for assistance

Indeed, but can't expect every single case to be covered.

Oh, and the cleared out sheds at the wife's place are not likely to be used to store body bags, not food!

You have the 1.5 million on the list

You then have others that are not but been advised to..

Some are shielding if someone in the family is at risk.

Example being at work, there are 4 teachers from our department of 10 that cannot take the risk..  mainly due to age or medical history.

My uncle lost his battle to this in Royal Bolton this morning, so he will be one of today’s numbers.

last rites over the phone held by a nurse with no family there.

made an exception yesterday evening and allowed my Aunt in for a short while to say goodbye ,  she was so covered up and him in such a way will never know if he knew, but my aunt said he did and took comfort from it.

None of his kids have seen him since last Thursday and can’t even be with their mum now.

Not writing this for sympathy, very few know me and I know most on here are decent enough without needing to say anything.

writing this to firstly echo how brilliant the staff Bolton are, cannot express how fantastic and hard working they are while remaining compassionate and patient. Special breed of person . Thank you to all posters on here who work there, for all I know you were the one that sat and held his hand in the absence of his family

secondly, from reading not many do, but, if you think the virus doesn’t kill but rather underlying conditions do, be in no doubt this virus killed him, he wasn’t going to die if he got flu or a cold.

thirdly, if you can’t imagine what we are going through, if you go out and ignore the rules you’ll be risking putting someone else through this and maybe even your own family will experience it or yourself and believe me, it’s fucking grim so stay home.

Its also a better place for me to just write this than Facebook etc so thanks for obliging me in that.

Very well written and poignant post. Sincere condolences to you and your family.

Apparently 1/3 of those that have it are BAME...corona is now racist

Thing is the figures are skewed because most deaths so far have occurred in London and unlike the rest of the country, London's population is 40% BAME. If BAME deaths account for 40% of deaths specifically in London that that will be on par.

Comparing BAME deaths as a percentage of the total population nationally is highly misleading.

Also - people if Asian and African descent are more prone to diabetes - which is a big risk factor for COVID if it's not well managed.

Sure I once heard that Asian folk tend to have a slightly smaller lung capacity- if true, suppose it may explain a bit.

I expect race is a red herring, more likely to be comorbidities of obesity and diabetes, which are more prevalent in Black and south Asian populations, than in white or northern Asian

If you think india are coping, let's revisit in a few weeks

I predict carnage, though figures will not reflect it, due to lack of medical infrastructure

They'll just die and nobody will know why

Report the other day, with general public filmed attacking medical staff who had treated patients with it.

Grim.

So on the bbc it says 756 deaths for today.

It then says of that number only 140 were yesterday, the rest were over the last few weeks.

What the fucks going on?

E

ngland reports 765 new coronavirus deaths

NHS England has recorded 765 new deaths in hospital from coronavirus.

It said that 140 of them occurred yesterday, while 568 took place between 1 April and 7 April.

The remaining 57 deaths took place in March, including two on 19 March and one on 16 March.

Yet African countries and countries such as Pakistan, India Bangladesh etc (countries that have a large representation in the UK) seem to be coping a lot better?

Or is that likely down to their reporting.

Lack of access to tests especially in the African nations
