A Game What Gutted You.

Losing at home to York City in April 76, they had only won one away game all season and had a bigger freak than Peter Crouch called Jimmy Hinch, he scored a goal against us that night

Their are so many to choose from over some 50 odd years but one that sticks out for me was Oldham in that 6th round FA cup , after seeing off so many big guns and then being set up for a go at united

I think so too and that twat Shearer in the thick of it. I fucking hate him.

Not 100% but something rings a bell that David James got done for it playing for Villa at Arsenal. He’d picked up an injury and was on the ground but kept hold of the ball. Memory might be playing tricks though.

Not sure

shearer was a cnut

but a clever one

Shearer was a cunt, but I really liked him. Especially for going "home" to Newcastle and turning the filth down.

Yeah playing for Blackburn obviously goes against him but he appears to hate Man U so will do for me

Shearer was a massive cheat at times but still one of the greatest strikers ever.

Scored every kind of goal going.

The Watford play off final was especially painful as I was really excited as a kid and really hopeful we'd go up.

Had really good seats and a cracking view of my dreams being crushed.

It was my second visit to Wembley and I'm still yet to see us win there or Cardiff.

My dad said; after he scored a hat-trick against us at Ewood; that he reminded him of Nat.

Thinking more about this and had some real disappointments, but for sheer anger, hatred and down right effed off, it has to be the Barry knight semi final.

my emotions were all over the place driving home.

We were all over the place , the bloke driving nodded off at the wheel.

Regarding the game , I'm convinced foul play was involved that night , it was no coincidence Sheepshanks was high up in the F.A , and not long after Knight was refereeing in the Prem.

Edit - he was actually refereeing in the premier at the beginning of that season , still a cheating cunt though.

My worst feeling at a game was England v Portugal, Germany 2006.  I was convinced it was ours that cup, only to be cheated of it with the sending off.  I went straight back to the hotel on my own, that was the last England game I attended.  The utter Cnuts the pair of them, both reds too

Apparently not as much as we thought, he’s now a bigger Cnut.  Match Of Their Day: Alan Shearer reveals how close he came to joining Manchester United https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/52165808

Shearer was a fool not going Man Utd

Think he'd have scored millions for them, probably wouldn't have even had to work as hard for the goals too with that kind of service.

I love him me, the 6 second rule cuntery notwithstanding, his goals were just pure power.

There really was no need to celebrate scoring against Bo Hansen in that 4-0 though, Alan.

I can’t agree that he was stupid to join his boyhood club. Let’s not forget, they’d just thrown away the league, and went on to finish 2nd again the season Shearer signed.

Would you rather become Bolton’s record goalscorer and have a statue outside, or a load of medals won at a team you dislike? No brainer for me.

I’m not having that he’s an absolutely massive Newcastle supporter mind. How often does he get to a game?

I recall Ferguson saying Shearer was a right surly twat with him, all like "why would i want to sign for you?"

That's might be why he never called back

The sort who would probably think nowt of shoulder charging a keeper into the net to score a goal in a Cup Final because he wanted that winners medal. Fucking ace that type of player

14th May 1977

Wolves beat us 1-0 at Burnden and more or less ended our chances of promotion that year. WBA pipped us and went up.

Year west brom went up, didnt they clinch it at oldham, while we won 4 0 at charlton?

Always thought wolves was the last day of the season

Also remember it being a sunday, but ill bet it wasnt

We still had a game left at home to Bristol Rovers, but by that time the damage had been done.

We had another game to go after Wolves, we played at Bristol Rovers and drew 2-2

By quirk of fate both our last games were against Bristol Rovers in the 75'76 & 76'77 seasons, both were meaningless.

Still dont think west brom pipped us that year

Was it not forest?

WBA pipped us in 76, Forest in 77
