The EFL should issue a statement to say: "We deny Wigan Athletic permission to start the season. What is more we acknowledge and apologise for the mistake of our predecessors in opening the door to th

What a crock of made up bullshit, Peterborough £3.4m, Toney must be worth more than that alone, and that's just an example.

Goes off the values on Transfermarkt which I guess they don't update very often. Ivan Toney is worth 360 thousand. Josh Vela (1.1m) and Gary Madine(1.8)  are some of the most expensive league 1 players.

Thing is it gives them more hope and also as mentioned it’s a crock of shit anyway. But it gives them hope which is fun 😁

The longer it goes on  with no bids the more likely the Rugby club and the council step in to secure the Stadium

Stadium is the only thing worth salvaging

Accounts for the stadium which is in a separate company shows it is 15% owned by the Council already and has no charges against it

Does it being a seperate company mean it can't be sold by the administrators to clear the debts?

Administrator can dispose of it as it has no charges registered against it such as a mortgage

Its losing money when its hosting football and rugby , and will be costing money to maintain

Being in a separate company is of little consequence at this point in time - its in administration with the other group companies

She was fro Leyth though

I feel sure that learned gentlemen on here have established that Leyth is a suburb of Wigan? Did I imagine this?

It’s losing money with 2 pro clubs, wouldn’t think they’d be willing to subsidise loss year in year out, can see Wigan non league playing at Leigh sports village.

The council will ensure the stadium remains at all costs. I’d also be very sceptical about the losses posted given the intertwining nature of the stadium company and the football club. Run properly - and getting the rugby back onside for the offices and bar revenue - and it won’t be an issue. If nothing else, I really don’t see it being an attractive side for any other potential buyer. Would be a massive gambler for a housing developer given the size of the site, a significant proportion of the site being a flood plain for the river and whatever chemicals are lurking underneath from when it was a tip.

Wigan I gather haven't paid July's salaries yet. If they don't pay their players then as we know they can clear off for nothing after 2 weeks.

But they need to sell players to pay salaries and outstanding creditors. They owe £6 million to football creditors and £1.5 million to non football creditors currently. If they don't pay 25p in the pound to the non football creditors they get hit with a further 15 point deduction.

In the meantime no buyer is stumping up £100k to look at the books unless there is something happening and the administrators aren't saying.

Is it possible that their situation looks worse than ours did? who has the bragging rights that what I want to know.

Rugby cant afford it when its valued at £25 million or whatever it's on the books at

Don't know the exact figures but lets suppose they ( Wigan Warriors ) pay £600k per annum as rent to the football club

Put in a silly offer of say £3 million ( 5 years rent ) to the administrator and they have potentially got a rent free home for life - just got to repay the borrowings to purchase it

Wigan council own the freehold and have covenants in place saying site cannot be used for retail / residential development - am sure no wigan council would politically ever want to overturn that

There's not many people in the market for a Sports stadium in Wigan so its very much buyers market

Am sure between Rugby club and Council they'll cobble a deal together - assuming no one comes in shortly to save the football club

Nobody will pay the £100k until there’s at least that amount per week off the current wage bill with close on £10m in in transfer fees to cover immediate debts. That means around 6 first team players gone and quickly

Tick tock indeed

FV were confirmed as preferred bidders 1st July and deal was done last week of August. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48906359

Wigan have about a month to get people interested in buying the club, pay the fee to see the books , analyse the books, make a bid , become preferred bidders and then do what we did in 2 months.
We also had people in the bid already involved in the club and prepared to put money in the club. The EFL got battered for allowing us to start the season so likely to be less flexible.

I have no idea how they can possibly be ready for the season.

The Charlton stuff is bizarre. The bloke who has been propping the money up to keep them going wasn’t actually sold the club in the end.

B'Jaysus! he's the kind of non owner you need on board, a gullible simpleton.

meanwhile back at Wigan there is a poster on LS who is adamant the club owe the owner £24.5 milllion. IF that is true, they're gone.

didn’t the old owner borrow the new owner 24.5 million to buy it from him, with interest at something like 15%.

Their better players will fuck off pretty quickly, they are not going to hang about, the club may get money for some of them, but these will be at a reduced rate and other clubs are like vultures, they won't give a fuck, prey on the vulnerable.

At the end of the day, they are just a bunch of fucking Lonsdale wearing wurzles, I'm hoping they go pop.

So, does this mean we will be partly responsible for their ultimate demise? 😊
