stevieb
Retiring the number seems daft. Quite happy with young English prospects getting top level game time abroad 'out of the spotlight' of the gutter press over here is fine by me. Let em develop then get em in the England squad when they are ready rather than 2 years too early to get hounded into oblivion. It coming home next year. Despite Sancho getting caught having a spit roast with a slaaag 2 weeks before the euros kicks off.

Him, the slag and some up and coming wonder kid that got sold by Birmingham and has his shirt retired... Who will be the fall guy for the world Cup in Qatar. leigh white
Could you imagine the " Rothmans Football Yearbook " putting up different squad numbers for each team member what played in a game, it would be a logistical nightmare. 1-11 does the trick with the added sub numbers coming on. West Ham hardly have a queue of long servants and world cup winning captains that died young. I recall City retired the number 23 for Marc Vivien Foe, that's ridiculous. FFS he only went there on loan for one season.

Gallas CB No.10 Bendtner 52 Fuck off Glad there's somebody else who's got this problem. I've been use to the old 1-11 system for so long, squad numbers just wind me up. Back in ye olde days it was: 1 3 5 4 2 11 7 8 6 9 10 Actually does anybody know why we just didn't go 1-11 left to right rather than this ferkakte numbering system? Moderators Casino Posted July 24, 2020 Moderators Share Posted July 24, 2020 As a kid, bolton centre halves wore 5 and 6 And 10 was a midfielder...4 and 10 with 7 and 11 as wingers

Morizio
Sweep’s mention of the 1-11 is my favourite. 4 and 8 in midfield. Silly this retiring numbers lark, logic will eventually mean the numbers will have to be brought out of retirement. Unless they go for 3 digit shirt numbers.
