Since my lad was offered his pre contract, he's had 3 head coaches leave for NW big 4, plus one at Salford, and the big cheese academy keeper coach now watching over De Geas demise 😂 As a parent, I'm happy as long as he's enjoying himself; but in any level of youth development, is a high turnover of staff ever a good thing? FA are dinosaurs, if they want to continue winter football then put the 3G infrastructure in. I’ve been coaching nearly 10 years now & the frustration of iscit on or off is the most annoying aspect of junior football. It’s little wonder we haven’t won World Cup since 66. Switch to summer hasn’t been particularly successful for kids RL. They were losing so many kids to being on holiday that during the school holidays they give up on league fixtures and try to host mini festivals with reduced team sizes. And that’s if you land lucky with all the schools being off at the same time. Kind of defeats the object if you don’t play any league games between early July and September. Most leagues play no more than 20 games a season. These can easily be played March to July end of term. Winter league should be indoor or 3G only. It’s not that difficult with a bit of thought, FA to busy with there various bullshit agendas. Nowadays you just need to take your kid to train with a club and they’ll find him/her a level to suit abilities rather than just say, “Sorry, you just aren’t good enough.” as was told to kids when I was 8-14 years old. It seems to be more about inclusivity than building as strong a team as you possibly can. I’m not sure the inclusive attitude is great for the transition from junior to senior football. But the ones who go on to playing senior football tend to be at academies from their early teens rather than playing for community clubs don’t they? No idea. My lad wasn’t good enough to get to academy level but played up to being about 18 years old. Uni meant he couldn’t train or play with his team but in any case, he’d already decided that 18 year old lads tended to look forwards to showing every other player how hard they were. Games rarely finished with 22 players. Daughter, on the other hand, excelled at all sports she got involved. She was invited to go to Blackburn Ladies at 16 but as I was still working shifts we were screwed for getting her up to training at Clitheroe. It was just one of lots of sports for her at the time; represented her county and was second in her age group nationally for javelin and Lancs Cricket, Represented Bolton at Rounders and Netball. She wasn’t that arsed about not being able to join a proper grown-ups ladies football team. Perhaps there was value (for her) in not concentrating all of her efforts in one sport. Watched my lad train on 3G on tuesday in gale force wind and rain. They could barely see the ball. Fuckin daft. Never see any kids playing out anymore. My mrs wont let ours out of sight on our street never mind disappearing all day to a field for massive game of 20 a aside. All the nonces and child killers fault. This should be accommodated by grassroots teams, on a shared facility, funded by the local authority (i know, i'm a dreamer) Also, BBDFL now a summer league in therory...but if the pitches are better then we carry on regardless. Anyway, laddo saved a pen today in amongst about 15 others, against Man Utd. Won with a penalty with the last kick. I can live with defeat at Walsall today. If the parents want to pay for them to do sommat, then fair enough. Its just a baby sitting service really. Once they reach 18, they will discover women and beer. Local FAs > National FA > UEFA > FIFA? So did my kid’s money help make Blatter rich? My daughter’s original coach pretty much ran a girls football team as a full-time job. He was (and still is) doing ok at it but coaching kids used to be done by someone with a genuine interest in junior football, not someone who saw an opportunity to make a wage from it.
