Dog started with a slight limp (back leg) Saturday morning. No obvious injuries or anything stuck between toes. Gradually got worse so I've booked him into the vets. Earliest I can get is Wednesday. He's only 1, so it's not old age. 

Given his paws a salt bath and trying to make him rest. Anyone got any advise to try and help the poor lad? 

I can cope with poorly humans but not with poorly animals 😢

A few years ago ours started with a limp, but only every now and again. We looked at her paw loads of times to see if owt stuck in her pad but nothing. As it wasn't all the time we left it for about 2 week before getting her seen. Vet looked at her foot, got magnifying glass out and said look at that. It was the tiniest little pin prick of a mark and when prodded with a needle he said could feel something in there. Asked us if we wanted to have her sedated and open her foot up (£??? hundreds) or if we were happy to let him have a quick rummage with tweezers he reckoned he could get it (£50). Opted for the latter whilst we distracted her with a handful of food, he pulled out a tiny shard of glass. Felt fecking awful for leaving her 2 week.

Other than keeping the mutt out of anything mucky til they've seen the vet. Not a lot you can do TBF.

Similar happened to me.

I had a pain in my foot at times when walking, ends up going to the local walk-in and there's two slithers of glass inside my foot. Nurse made a bit of a nick in the skin and dug them out with tweezers.

It’s been nearly 2 years since we had ours put down. Still miss the big pillock and think about him every day. Total shitter isn’t it mate.

BB, is the dog gnawing at it? Or just limping? Not a lot you can do other keep it rested and don’t let it fuck about with it.

Vetericyn plus  you will find it on amazon got great reviews if dog needs a op on the pad set me back 300 earlier this year but I have used this stuff since when her pad looks a bit red and it’s cleared it up 

I’d put the wife down before I put the dog down*

As for blondies dog- wait for the vet before concerning yourself too much.

Could have a gentle feel to see if a joint feels hot. Watch the dog's lips to see if it licks them- indicative of pain.

Probably just a strain or something relatively benign.

Cancer. Found a small lump about 4 weeks ago and by last week it was the size of a grapefruit. Had spread all over her body.

My chocolate lab is 11 and half, always been fit and up for a walk. That’s starting to slow down, went for a mooch the other day only did 4 miles and it’s knocked him for six. He’s over the “average” life span of a choc lab and he’s had a few bouts of illness recently so I know we are in the home straight with him. Kids adore him especially my daughter they have such a bond. 

im preparing now, to make it a bit easier. 
 

 

Ours started with a limp...then a slight infection between toes....got worse and worse even with antibiotics and medical cleaning.

Had 1 toe removed....3 months later same thing on his back paw....turns out to be tumours and a really bad skin dissorder...so had to have the big lad put down....10 years old mind.

 

 

 

Knob head of a dog got took to the vets, was jumping around like a loony as soon as we stepped inside. Limp magically disappeared and made me look like a dramatic crazy dog woman. Still sold me anti-inflamatories for 34 bastard quid. Little shit will have to be dying before I take him back now. Knob head.

Found a tic embedded in the dogs ear last night. Hadn't half dug it's way in. Twist and pull, sudocrem in the hole, sorted.

Commiserations Kent.  When we lost our last one, I'd never felt as upset about anything in my life. 

Had to take our Border Collie to vets yesterday she kept shaking her head a lot , vet reckoned ear infection,  £64 for some drops

New dog law in Germany coming out next year if you own a dog must be walked for at least an hour on each walk twice a day walk must include off the lead exercise. No dog to be left at home all day . 
don’t know how it can be enforced and some breeds don’t need that much exercise but the sentiment is right
