It was dreadful though

All things considered, clise to being as bad as anything ive seen from us

A few posters on here have told me in the past that a good coach/ manager can teach a 25 year old footballer to pass it 10 yards

I think not, but we are going to find out as some of our lot clearly cant atm

A sportsman on Twitter is stroking his ego when the going is good. To leave Twitter when the going gets tough is a bit cissy. I’d prefer him to ignore but know it’s there; use the negatives to spur on an improvement so that the ego stroking starts again.

Thing is, that "negatives spurring on" thing happens all the time in matches  - because it's working in real time. So a defender makes two mistakes in quick succession he'll hear some grief from the crowd; but then a few minutes when he puts in a perfectly timed tackle he'll hear appreciation. Often that appreciation will  acknowledge the fact he's getting his act together, and the whole process is thus beneficial. Summat plonked onto a social media board just stays there festering, at least until the next game.

If you take a deep breath and then a sip of your pint on this beautiful day then there's a potential 135pt record breaking season in front of us.

It'll be reet.

Can you be slightly more specific about which pint it is you’re sipping? I’m thinking maybe 12th. I’m also assuming the pints are whisky.

Of course. Just don't understand why we were so bad. Couldn't do the fundamentals; pass it to a teammate. Was really weird.

Takes bottle and confidence to play that way in a real match I guess. All very well in training.

They need to tank someone and then I think it will all start to come together. Our defense is under way too much pressure at the moment. I imagine the idea is that we play fast attacking football and relieve the burden on the back 3. It's not happening yet though.

Dread to think what would happen if we drew a Prem side in a cup competition at the moment. Can you imagine Liverpool against that back three???? :)

The question I keep asking myself is whether or not there was a promotion-winning sqaud available for us to sign from the free agents this summer. We will obviously find out in time, but one thing other clubs have in their favour is they've been able to shape their squads over a few seasons.

I dont buy this - Very few clubs at this level are settled

I accept given we have bought in a whole new squad that other clubs  have players on their books longer than we have had that are used to playing together

But 16 Clubs in this League have changed their manager within the last 12 months

6 clubs appointed their Manager after Evatt joined us

Give Evatt 6-8 games to get these players properly organised and see how its looking then

Dread to think of fans reaction next weekend if we lose at Colchester

my mate shares the same surname with a centre back we had from oxford

He sees em most games but probably not as often as his dad

they both say crellin is fine but not great in the air

Which I'm surprised to hear because so far I think that's been his biggest strength? Coming to collect the ball. Making good decisions about when to catch and when to punch. Commanding his area - for a relatively slight keeper as well!

My point is more about timing and the market than anything else. It's one thing to have a big budget and a big draw, but are there enough good players available on a free transfer in one summer?

On the point earlier about whether you can coach lads in their 20s to pass it to each other, if they haven't got the ability to do it and have had little experience of doing it previously, it'll be hard work. I'm involved in coaching (not football) and all my long term athlete development education has told me that teaching new skills and movements requiring co-ordination and spacial awareness will be very difficult after the age of 15.

So, where I'm a bit unsure where we're at, having listened to all the comments from IE about each of our new players (particularly the defenders) as they were unveiled then seen the first three games, is are these lads who are who can defend but are also good on the ball, or are they lads who are big quick and strong but need some coaching in playing the way he wants. If it's the latter, it's going to take a good while and a good few more poor results, if it happens at all.

From what I've seen up to now, all I've seen is the latter.

Fine at Chorley's level isn’t good enough for me,  we’ve a keeper who’s played in premier league at the club, he should start.

Crellin has been fine so far.  We have lots of problems to be getting on with.  Goalkeeping isn't one of them right now

Agreed.  On a scale of 1 to 10, the goalkeeping position is a 2 or 3, not perfect but not costing us games.  Plenty other stuff to get right first.

My concern is that IE makes a big thing about these players being tall, strong, athletic, fast.  But that applies to a million rugby players, basketball players, olympic athletes etc.  When the ball is played to you near the touchline and you need to control it, beat a man and pick a pass, it doesn't matter if you're built like Mike Tyson with the pace of Usaine Bolt, it doesn't give you football skills.  The likes of Greenidge and Santos aren't good footballers, and no they aren't going to be coached at their age to be good footballers, they are what they are.  Hobbs probably doesnt have a club at the moment and Kean Bryan is looking for games.
