Blondi
It's all very confusing, as another poster mentioned, Phoenix was recommended by Kenyon, are these players phoenix's or Evatt's? Evatt/Toby signed players designed to play out from the back with 3 central defenders and wing backs, but that's now been ditched, he's now signed a winger who supplied ammunition for Doyle at Swindon last season, so does that mean we're no longer playing wingbacks? God knows what system we'll be playing against the mighty Harrogate town next week.

Perhaps Evatt's seen that the wingbacks aren't working and that's why he's already changed to four at the back, a winger is now a necessity. Or maybe he's just giving himself tactical options and will switch formation as required which would seem like a good idea to me. He appears to be willing to change formations when they aren't working, he did it at Barrow last season when he started the season with a back four and when that wasn't successful then he switched to wingbacks which was. Its been a poor start to the season but with a team of strangers we shouldn't really have expected as much as we did. I'm confident that we will improve and be challenging near the top by the end of the season.
JimmyRiddle
IE has had success at Barrow, says the right things, doesn't appear too pig headed not to change things when not right, and has embraced the magnitude of this club in the 4th division. As such I hope it works out for him, and us. However, I am not sure TP gets the same latitude. No ones knows what his talent is or what is previous acheivements are? . The fact he was at Macc isn't a ringing endorsement for a start. The only saving grace, in my mind, is that IE seems to have bought into him so that will do for me for now. How long that happy union lasts if the shit starts flying I hope we don't have to find out!!

Dunno, but if he has had to tweak his values that much to take the job, maybe he not the guy he appears to be. I think he was content with the model proposed, but who knows? Site Supporter Tonge moor green jacket Posted September 28, 2020 Site Supporter Share Posted September 28, 2020 I would imagine it was TP that wanted Evatt. We seemed to be courting him for a while, and I'm sure that Evatt wouldn't have switched if he was going to be overly constrained.
Whitesince63
No way should Phoenix be deciding who we sign. No problem with him suggesting players, doing the spadework but the final decision to sign must rest with IE. The problem is we have no idea how it works and who really is making the decision and I don’t think for a minute that the club are going to tell us. I read that Peter Kenyon was Involved in the selection of our Manager and continues to act as a "Consultant" to FV and we know Peter Kenyon was directly involved in the appointment of Phoenix. @Mantra in an excellent post earlier in this thread said "He's in same category as Evatt right now. Came in and talked the talk. Walking the walk isn't happening yet, so he's under scrutiny. Also his name and his job title aren't doing him any favours. I'll have to give it another 10 games before I judge both Evatt and Phoenix properly" Whilst Evatt will be in the firing line if things dont improve , I am not sure that Phoenix will , he can hide behind his cloak of anonymity - and not knowing what he does , I am not sure on what basis he can ever be properly judged ? To me the Tobias Phoenix appointment only makes sense if that were just his stage name , and his real name turns out to be Tobias Kenyon.

No need to complicate things at our level, the division is shit. A mix of good younger players and experience and being organised will get us up. You will find these on a pitch, not FM21 Edited December 11, 2020 by Biggish Dave
Dr. Feelgood
Good. I've never understood the nature of a director of football. The concept of someone selecting players and presenting them to a manager, all wrapped up, with a bow, as the manager excitedly opens the package to say "but I didn't need another centre-back", or "I cannot abide this player".  Regarding the man, I have tried, many times & in many ways, to find out about the guy, & I'm not a bloke who gives up easily. You'd get further trying to find out about the Head of GCHQ. It's not possible, if using your real name, to be as anonymous. Yet, if you were fake you'd go for a less odd name.  Edited December 11, 2020 by Dr. Feelgood .
