Launched at the food festival at the same time as the cheese and jalapeño. Dry as the bottom of my shoe. Sold in the shops for a while after. It didnât last. On the muffin debate, itâs muffins all the way round here. They look at me like an alien if I ask for a barm. Anyway itâs a flour cake Oh and Carrs cheese pasties are heaven  Quote

Members DazBob Posted October 3, 2020 Members Posted October 3, 2020 Greenhalgh's is good, but it'd be cheaper to go for a pub lunch than eat enough from Greenhalgh's to fill you up. Quote
TrickyTrotter Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Had 2 meat and potato pasties from Hunters Bakery for first time yesterday. Â Very nice. Thin pastry like Ye Old Pastie Shop but much better filling. Â More meat and a savoury taste. Â Cheaper than Greenhalgh's as well (not hard). Quote
jules_darby Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Iâve never had a Carrâs in my life.  They did open a Greenhalghâs around here a few years back but I donât rate it at all đ€·đœââïž Quote
Burndens Bogs Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Carrs standard pasties are shite these days, beige/bland/tasteless filling. Back in the day they had a dark brown filling, moist bordering sloppy, peppery taste + they were lovely. Thats progress. Quote
RoadRunnerFan Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 (edited) Olde pasty shoppe beats Carrs hands down imo. Edited October 3, 2020 by RoadRunnerFan Quote
Site Supporter Alf Hartigan Posted October 3, 2020 Site Supporter Posted October 3, 2020 Another one here that thinks Carr's are distinctly average, Greenhalgh's my favourite but ridiculously priced. Go after 4pm though and they are reduced to half price if they've got some left. Muffin is a mule. Quote

Love Carrâs but I never buy the meat and potato. Bland and dry. Everything else they do is bob on Quote
Members bolton_blondie Posted October 3, 2020 Author Members Posted October 3, 2020 (edited) Best thing about Greenhalghs is the soup. Chicken and chilli proper warms you up đ shame I can't get it anymore as work has banned us getting any dinner in our uniforms as the public won't like it đđ Edited October 3, 2020 by bolton_blondie Quote

The meat and spud pies from frazers butchers are also exceptional. Spud in small cubes, done to perfection. None of this mashed to oblivion slop. Its also barm round here. Quote
